I wanted to give a shout out to Bobo’s Snack Bar!
I had heard about the original Snack Bar located on Congress from my girlfriend, and she had wondered where it went abruptly a few years ago. Then reading through some Reddit threads, I saw that a new iteration of the OG place opened up in East Austin, and I wanted to surprise her with a visit there.
The place is a mid century, art-deco themed place located on Airport Boulevard. It’s theme is wine, beer and spirits, with small snack sized plates, in a setting where you can have actual conversation with the people around you.
The owner, Bethany Andreé struck up a conversation with us and greeted us with such a warm hospitality, that it was no wonder the original spot was such a success.
The owners, Bethany and Karl, were even gracious enough to host my first art exhibit during the Austin Studio Tour and were so hospitable to everyone that came in during my time there.
If you have never been, then you should definitely check it out! I’m not a paid poster; I just wanted to shine some light on a really cool place and some really cool people.

Their cheesy poof snacks are a delight. Highly recommend.
Went once last winter and thought it was cool they have lots of fire pits. But I hardly ever see anyone there when I drive by.

Great spot, good drinks and friendly people. It’s in a bit of odd location which is too bad.
after the day it’s been, i misread the title as “shoot out.” was relieved to see happy news for a change.
It’s the best! There are so few places around to have a cocktail in a chill/quiet environment…Bobo’s fits that requirement perfectly.
Also, I believe everything served comes <100 miles from Austin.
I’m really attracted to the breeze block wall.
Was there last weekend, great drinks and staff was just delightful
Held a birthday party there last summer and the owners and staff were super sweet and accommodating. Drinks are great, food is great, and I love the vibe. It seems kinda feast or famine in terms of how busy it is

We went last weekend! The ambiance is so perfect, cocktails were great and the bartenders were so kind!
When you say it’s a new iteration of the place on SoCo, is it the same owners?
