    original post [here](https://livingthegourmet.com/2023/12/teatime-scottish-shortbread-cookies-easy-recipe.html) – Making these cookies, I realized how simple shortbread is to make! I don’t know why I haven’t made them more often! Only three ingredients and omg they are soo fabulous. Next time I’d like to dip them in chocolate 😀

    **Ingredients:**

    * 1/2 stick butter, chilled and grated
    * 2 cups all purpose flour
    * 1/2 cup sugar

    **Instructions:**

    1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line an 8×8 square baking dish with parchment paper. Set aside.

    2. Blend flour, sugar, and butter together.

    3. Pat the cookie dough to the prepared baking dish.

    4. Using a dough cutter, smooth the dough and then gently, score the dough into the desired size bars. Do not cut all the way down. Finally, take a fork and prick the dough.

    5. Bake for 35 minutes or until golden.

    6. Remove and let cool slightly in the baking dish before transferring to a wire rack.

    7. Gently lift the shortbreads from the dish, using the overlapping parchment. And let cool until warm. The following the scored lines, gently slice the shortbreads.

    8. Serve with your favorite tea and enjoy!

    I’m sorry but trying to market shortbread as “easy 3 ingredient shortbread” is quite frankly false advertising because shortbread only ever has 3 ingredients!!

    Its a ratio 3:2:1 of flour butter and sugar. Its the easiest thing in the world to make. Mix flour and sugar, melt butter add melted butter, mix, cook at 170⁰C for 12-14 mins or until edges are about to turn golden.
