Like a bunch of sushi climbing the stairs to their death. That thing must be a nightmare to clean between platings. Might be the person eating off of it will be marching to their own death soon.

I can’t believe they did this but then didn’t make a little dish at the end with soy sauce, for them to ‘jump into’. Just a huge wasted opportunity.

I don’t hate it… I’ll have to try next time I’m headed to Round Rock

I kinda think sushi gets a pass with plates. I’ve been served 40 pieces in a “love boat”. Tiny little rowboat filled with delicious rolls.

Any food on wood is a no go. As a former waitress, I don’t have enough trust on people having enough time to wash that thing properly, ew.

I don’t think this was what was in mind when the chef said, “Give your food a little height to make it more interesting.”
And yeah, wood and sanitation don’t seem to mix somehow.

thing is, how big are those pieces? hate the gotta-take-a-couple-bites-outta-it thing when eating sushi… like said here with sushi boats i think sushi gets a pass on being more creatively presented imho. but i fear we end up with a sushi sandwich and not a singular experience – i guess that means the presentation ruins it for me?

I feel like Sushi plating should be outright exempt. They’ve been doing Sushi Boats since before we were even born. I don’t care if it’s a guy from Venezuela doing it now, they can plate sushi in whatever ridiculously Japanese fashion they can come up with.
This feels like going to an Indian restaurant and complaining they don’t have ketchup or fries.

I feel like if anything this actually makes them easier to pick up individually

Nice to know they personally handled each piece extra

If you make good sushi, people will follow. People wont follow mediocre sushi thats overpriced just because its on a staircase….. SMH. 🙁
