We continue our review of the Greek Feta cheeses you can find in UK supermarkets. In this video we review the Dabizas Greek Feta Cheese which you can find in ALDI supermarkets. It is a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) product, which is a type of geographical indication aimed at preserving the designations of origin of food-related products.
We are reviewing only Greek Feta cheese and not any ‘Greek style’ or ‘Greek salad’ cheeses, as they are not authentic Feta cheeses and that’s why they are not allowed to use the word Feta in their packaging.

Hello everybody and welcome to the Greekosophy channel once again. And look what we’ve got for you. Apologies for the noises around but we are currently cooking in our kitchen, so there’s going to be some noises from the fryer and the oven. But that’s okay. We’re
Going to add this Greek Feta that we found, in our salad. And it’s a Feta we found in Aldi, Aldi supermarkets. We’ve never seen that before, so we’re going to try it. It comes obviously from Greece, from a company called Dabizas. For the Newcastle fans out there, I’m
Not sure if it’s Nikos Dabizas that owns the company. We’ll find out and let you know. It’s from the north of Greece, in the Halkidiki region. I’m trying to pronounce it in English but I’m Greek, so Halkidiki is the correct pronunciation. It’s quite hard. So let’s see what
It is about. Let’s open it and see what it is like. A beautiful looking Feta. By the way, I enjoy the covering here, very funny, with a goat here. Also, it’s made with sheep’s and goat’s milk.
Quite hard, which I like in a Feta cheese. Good lump. So let’s see what it is like. It doesn’t overpower you with saltiness, so I think for the UK market it has the right balance of salt. But you have a… is very… it’s very full on your mouth, you know,
You get a lot of cheese in your mouth But it doesn’t have a lot of flavour that I would like when I eat Greek Feta on its own. It will be okay in your salads but I’m not really overly impressed with it.
I cannot say really that much about it because I don’t get any other flavours. Right balance of salt but that’s it. I wouldn’t say that it’s really bad but if I was to eat it
With just bread I’d rather have some other Feta. My marks out of 10, because the food is almost ready. I would give it about 5 to 5.5. I don’t… I wouldn’t stretch it to 6. So, looks good on the outside, unfortunately not so good in the tasting test.
Anyway, I’m hungry, we have food. We’re going to be uploading some recipe videos soon and obviously we still have the videos from our holidays to the island of Tinos and Syros from the summer that we’re still preparing and we’re going to show you. But in the meantime, thank you very much
For walking… for watching this very quick review video. Some other videos will appear around your screens in a minute, so please while I’m having dinner watch these videos and I’ll see you soon.

If you have a Waitrose near you, I would recommend their award winning barrel aged feta cheese.
I agree… it doesnt have very much saltiness. Wishing you and your family a beautifully holiday season.
