Man’s asking for a professional chef to drive to another city and work for a measly 20$ an hour while expecting top notch service and restaurant quality food. And he calls that ‘competitive pay’ 😂

In San Diego?? My mom is the lead cook at a tiny diner attached to a laundromat in southern Illinois and makes that much

  2. bonemonkey12

For $25/ hour they’ll let you clean their house and take their kids everywhere.

    That’s just insulting.

  3. HeadForTheSHallows

A private chef gig? In San Diego? Man I absolutely would not take anything less than a 75k salary.

  4. Blamelessone

I won’t set foot in a kitchen for less than $25.

Jona needs to learn how to cook or get a better paying job.

  6. KariKringe

The drive over there better count as billable hours lmao

  7. chefbiney

man wtaf, i got offered 25/h for line cook. $20 is like a slap in the face.

I make that much at my second job making burgers and fries at a bar that doesn’t sell much food. I make significantly more than that at my main job working a food truck.

  9. I make more than that doing contract work for colleges. I’ve seen catering jobs in San Diego pay more

  10. aTreeThenMe

i pay that to my dishwasher, and am in a famously low payrate area (nw florida)

  11. Professional kitchen, Work as a team, Fast paced environment, $20 an hour, communication skills, Sounds like somebody copied a resturaunts job qualifications for a line cook not a private chef.

  12. Chummers5

Fast paced environment of a four person household? Is it like a reality show where you only have an hour to prepare a nice dinner?

I work in the Chicago area as a food service worker. I clean tables, restock some food items, serve food and sometimes bake the desserts. I make $22.48 per hour full benefits and 401k and pension. Union up.

  14. Kalikokola

You could work at McDonald’s not even cooking for that much in CA next month. What a fucking joke

  15. DanimalPlays

I feel like people have no idea what “competitive wage” means. It’s just a buzzword now.

  16. IrreverentCrawfish

For my area, $20/hr is pretty good. But SD? What an insult!

  17. Obvious-Dinner-1082

Lol not the worst I’ve seen. Checked out a personal chef ad, not only low pay but also needed to include their children in the prep process. Like, I’m your chef not your home sciences 4th grade teacher.

  18. KVishuddha

Unless rent in San Diego is $30 and a handful of Cheerios for a decent apartment, then yes, the audacity.

  19. seanbentley441

$20 for a chef in Cali??? I make that much as a line cook in a much lower cost of living area with half the responsibility. I want whatever this guy is smoking.

  20. Own-Store7496

I’m making $19.00/hr as an inexperienced line cook in the much cheaper cost of living state of Ohio. They are trying to rip you off so hard.

Something tells me he is hoping for someone without a green card.

This is why America has illegal immigration, these rich folks never want to pay market wages and basically want a benevolent slave.

Holy fuck man. I just finished a temporary personal chef gig tonight actually. Monday through Fridays since the beginning of November. Just dinner, for two people. A total of 36 meals and a little over 120 hours of labor. Paid $10k….. In Ohio….. I make more than $20/hr at my day job at a mom and pop place here…. Again….. In Ohio
