I made bread on the fire for the first time! Loved the result.

    It’s my workhorse no-knead bread I use for weeknights:

    825g bread flour

    75g whole wheat

    680g water

    ~18g salt

    ~15g active dry yeast

    Mix it together without kneading, throw it in the fridge for a couple days, take it out to warm it up for 2-3 hours before you want to bake. Baked incredibly well in a cast iron pot on the fire– preheat the pot with some of the coals, and keep the lid on throughout.

    Did you feel like you got any extra flavor from the wood fire?

    I love wood fire cooking for that lovely slight smokey taste.
