2010 Mayacamas Merlot, Mt. Veeder – Napa Valley.

1 hour decant before serving. Served with Prime Rib with a red wine and mushroom sauce, orzo risotto, Brussel sprouts and “Louis Wishes You A Cool Yule” on the record player.

Nose is savory and dark fruited, with just the slightest indicator of age by way of tertiary, wet earth notes. This wine is “cool” with the damp soil thing carrying to the palate, juicy currant and blackberry with that Mayacamas signature minty, herbal freshness. Tons of acidity here.

This is a wine that represents vintage and site so, so well but also would throw someone for a loop as blinder. You could argue somewhere on the right bank. It’s in a fantastic drink now through the next few years window. Another Uber classic bottle, from an Uber classic producer.
