The Last Dab XXX (my 3rd bottle)
Stings a lot. Has a slight earthiness/savoriness, a slightly sweet note, a slight chocolate note. But remember this is a super-hot pepper that lasts a few minutes so these are unique sensations, not ’sweet’ like refined sugar or ‘chocolatey’ like a bar of chocolate; you will have to taste Ed Curry’s “X” invention yourself. For me, dabs of super-hot sauces are a go-to for making BLTs with spicy mayo.
The Last Dab Apollo
Like a hotter, more fruity version of Reaper Squeezins (another sauce by Ed Curry). It burns and stings instantly/explosively. Like reaper or X this is about a 5 minute experience for most people before wearing off. When I try a sauce, I do a small dab straight and rub my tongue around the roof of my mouth to make sure that the sauce reaches all the taste buds and burns my whole mouth. Apollo also burns your throat when swallowed.

In terms of balance of super high heat against really good unique flavor, this exceeds four other of my favorite super-hot but all natural sauces, which are Last Dab Apollo, Last Dab XXX, The Classic Pepper X Edition and Reaper Squeazins.

1. Such a clean and vaguely citrusy start, which slowly transitioned to some earth. Then the tongue went numb and the heat began to swell. I have never had a true heat high before but this did the trick. The rush of endorphins lasted for an hour and I felt great … The heat behind the cheeks and through the sinuses was incredibly pleasant and not overwhelming.
2. Much like whiskey, this flavor profile has an opening, a mid-palate, and great finish.

I read many pages of reviews on Heatonist saying it balances heat and flavor well but few describing accurately what this unique pepper tastes like in a ‘pure’ sauce form. The above excerpts are closest. Interestingly this sauce is super hot in your mouth and on your lips but doesn’t burn your throat much when you swallow it.

I want to try the xperience so badly but with shipping to Canada it’s like $80..

I’ve tried all three and I didn’t care much for the XXX one due to the cumin added to it, as I’m not particularly fond of that flavor.

With the Xperience I didn’t get much of the citrus flavor as u mentioned, but more of a floral taste followed by the heat. I’m half way through my 2nd bottle and I’m really enjoying it.

I must have got a dud bottle of Apollo.
Didnt find the flavor anything special, nor did i find it mind blowingly hot (it was hot, just not what i expected from all the hype).

I love everything about the apollo. The only sauce to give me that head high and the burn is just a lot of heat and I don’t get the stingy needle feeling like I do from even habenero.
Think I have finally found THE sauce for me with it. I do want to try the pepper x tho
