It was delicious but not entirely aligned with our attempts to avoid meat products.

Was the stock not labelled as chicken stock when you added it to your meal?

Doesn’t it still show the ingredients list for every meal on the menu?

A little chicken stock won’t hurt you

  5. Seems like they made a mistake, notified you of the mistake, provided a suggested solution, and proactively issued a credit. It happens, but sounds like they did the right thing.

Surely if you’re avoiding animal products you can read the label that says Chicken Stock and surmise it contains chicken! I imagine their solution of salt as a substitute is to avoid making assumptions about what you have on-hand (like veggie stock) but of course you could, if you had it on hand use that instead.

Didn’t it say “chicken stock powder” on the packet? Did you think it was vegetarian chicken stock powder?

I’m a vegetarian. Good on them for owning up to the mistake. Some people do not believe chicken stock is vegetarian for some crazy reason. I’ve been at restaurants where they insist something is veg when it clearly says it’s made with chicken stock.
