I’ve been using a bread machine for a while but I got a Dutch oven for Christmas which meant I could finally attempt to make a boule! I used my bread machine recipe and used the machine to mix and do the first ferment. Then I followed a different recipe for shaping and baking. Not bad for a first try!     Awesome first go at it! I’d gladly eat a slice

    I like mine baked a little longer with lid off, crusty crust is part of what I like about sourdough but that’s not for everyone.

    Also I’ve found scoring a little deeper, cold dough helps, gives a nice expansion and more open crumb. But again just personal preference.
