Auger Motor catching after cleaning out. Screws are tight, have cleaned several times before but today the auger wont sit tight inside the plastic bushing and the motor is all over the place trying to turn. Any suggestions to repair beyond getting a motor bracket?

  1. What’s going on here? I can’t see the bracket it is supposed to be seating in. My impulse would be big HVAC zip ties or a hose clamp if I couldn’t/didn’t want to get a bracket or were in a hurry.

Ok this happens when the auger binds and it kinda torques the pin and bends the plate. I put popsicle sticks underneath the motor with zip ties to prevent it trying to turn

There’s cotter pin the links the motor and auger. You can buy them from Amazon.

I did a complete overhaul of my Zgrills including electronics, motor, auger and bushing. It works great but those motors tend to flop around. I think it is a crap design. Maybe try a new bushing????

A company named Smoke Daddy sells an aluminum bracket that aligns the motor and shaft and keeps the motor from moving around. I had trouble with the auger getting bound up having to be taken out several times until I installed one. It is not a problem anymore and that clunking noise is gone for good.

Looks like the shaft is bent at the motor. Maybe take off to confirm. May just need to reconnect.
