Hi guys it’s Jordan here for imuna wellness with a new video so today I wanted to talk to you about a really great recipe that I’ve discovered that I actually kind of just made myself tonight now a lot of people talk about finding you know horrible disgusting bad
For you foods and making them healthier and a lot of times people find it difficult to do that and I wanted to show you a great Mexican style recipe I did tonight that tasted so amazing and within my budget I had two of these for my dinner mhm not one but
Two so these are my gorgeously deliciously new beef and cheese burritos normally when you think of burritos you think of Taco Bell or taco thyme or any number of fast food Americanized Mexican restaurants you can even find delicious burritos at some high-end Mexican restaurants what
Are that are made well a lot of them use skirt steak or they can use fish to make a delicious burrito but I love a wholesome classic beef and cheese burrito now a lot of the times when you go to Taco Time and Taco Bell they use processed cheese product they use salsa
That is packed with sodium and artificial flavors and they use ground beef that is covered in fat and it’s not even the healthy ground beef it’s like the regular extra fat ground beef disgusting and the tortilla alone is white it’s processed there’s no fiber nothing it’s horrible there’s trans fat
From the meat there’s probably a lot of extra fat in the cheese it’s just so many calories you don’t even want to think so here’s what I did to lighten it up and make it healthier now the first thing I did is I sore sted a really good
Tortilla the fact is a great tortilla wrap that is healthier for you is going to make all the difference and the low carb grocery where I go shopping sometimes um has these really great tortillas from the La Tortilla Factory which makes a line called smart and delicious and I chose the tomato basil
Because it tastes so amazing and it’s really great it’s low in calories it’s extremely low in fat with only three G 0.5 G of saturated fat it’s trans fat free and it’s made with 3% extra uh 3% of olive oil so it’s really really healthy fat and really nice in the
Preparation of it now usually people think of a wrap as being really high in carbs but the fact is this one isn’t with a total carb of 19 it only has a net blood sugar affecting carb of seven why why because it has 12 G of fiber
Which is so amazing so between the two wraps I had 24 G of fiber oh my God how great is that and you know what it’s not processed at all it tastes really great yeah there’s a lot of other stuff in there in the ingredients list but to me
I found it was really great and it did meet the guid lines that I need for my nail plan so I use these tortillas as the base and what I did is instead of buying a standardized ground beef if you go to your local grocery store they have
Different levels of ground beef there’s regular ground beef there’s lean ground beef and where I go there’s extra lean ground beef sirloin which is like a higher end and yeah for the same size it’s maybe a dollar $150 more but it’s so worth it because the health benefits
Are better the leaner the cut of meat you get the healthier the cut of meat you get and and when you are having ground beef or ground turkey or ground anything you need to go for the leanest Cuts you can so I go for the extra lean
Ground beef sine um it was really delicious I love it and I don’t really taste the difference huh then the next thing you need to look at is your cheese product Oh and FYI when you have the beef what I tend to do is I cook it till golden brown I cook it
About 2 minutes before golden brown then I pop it into a bowl and I use a potato masher and I mash it really small because I noticed when I go to Taco Bell or Taco Time or any of these types of places their ground beef looks so nice
And Tiny and well shaped and cooked and I never seem to get that I tend to get these big chunky pieces and personally I don’t like the big chunky ground beef I like the small tiny stuff you get there so I take the potato masher out and I
Grind it and I spin it you know and I mix it up even more and by the time I’m done it looks just like their beef so hey hey then I put it back into the frying pan continue frying it until it’s nice and light and
Golden brown and then what I do is when I go for a cheese product you need to get something that’s lower in fat obviously if you find a cheese that is fat free it probably tastes so disgusting because cheese needs to have fat naturally and it does even the
Really lowfat cheese has some form of a trans fat in it but the difference is it’s a naturally occurring trans fat in the product versus a processed product that has added trans fats and saturated fats this fat is naturally occurring in the cheese so it’s not totally bad for
You and come on cheese in any amount as long as it’s not processed it’s good to me so I use the Craft um double cheddar light it has I think 35 or 38% less fat than the standard which I really like preferably you need something 20 to 22%
Milk fat or less anything higher than that you’re just wasting your energy so what I do is I then take another pan and I make a veggie mix now this is the key onions diced tomatoes mushrooms and corn green onions red pepper and green pepper
Diced okay but what I do because I’m so lazy go to Whole Foods Whole Foods has a lot of these things already done in their salad bar now you can pick any type of veggies you want okay they have a big massive salad bar at my local
Whole Foods on cambi and Broadway huge huge huge I walk up there with these little things I fill up what I want in it then I take take it home that way the prep’s already done for me and I just stick it in a pan and sauté it up and my
Little secret technically I shouldn’t be putting this in there but I do anyway some people like a little bit of salsa I do too but I don’t like my cold salsa in there so what I do is I get the Tostitos salsa conas keso it’s like the cheese
Salsa I know probably not the healthiest product on the market out there for me but I take about two tablespoons and I mix it one tablespoon into the beef and one tablespoon into the veggies then what I do is I mix the veggies with cheese sauce into the
Beef and then put it to the side so I put the wrap the tortilla down I put a sprinkling of cheese on the bottom then I scoop out my mix into the wrap I fold my wrap up really nice and when it’s all said and done I put put
The pan back on medium heat I put a a tiny little um pastry brush with a little bit of extra virgin olive oil just a tiny bit on the bottom on top of where the closure is and then I stick it closure side down in the pan that way
What it’s doing is it’s allowing it to nicely crisp up on the grill now if you have a parchment paper like brownish parchment paper then you don’t need to put the olive oil just put it in the parchment paper and put it on that if you have a panini press at
Home or a grill press by far that is 10 times better than the pan because it gets the grill marks but it seals the closure in so that when you take it off it’s not going to unwrap itself and fold open if you do have a pan and that’s how
You have to do it go right ahead make sure it’s nice and sealed and then when it’s done take it off and enjoy and surprisingly I had two of these and I got a serving of veggies now I also paired it with a side salad with
Dressing so I got my four servings of uh fredgies I got my um 24 25 26 27 and a half grams of fiber and between the two plus the salad I had about 49 grams of protein which is beyond beyond I got half my day’s protein in
One meal I got so many great health benefits yes it was H pretty I’d say 10 20 there was probably about 24 grams of fat in it but the fact is that’s coming from the cheese and the beef mostly there was not much fat anywhere
Else in the dish uh the beef itself per portion is about 10 G of fat then the che and so and the cheese was about uh 6 G okay so 16 so 17 grams of fat sorry cuz there was one no three so 17 16 so 19 grams of that in total but
Really it was so good and a lot of it was unsaturated poly and monounsaturated fats so not bad so I hope you love that recipe it’s really really good and I love it and it’s super healthy so give it a try take care everybody bye
