    Run that thing hot til you’ve got nothing left on it but carbon, scrub hard, wipe down with oil, then run it hot again til you get smoke. Wipe the excess off, repeat the last few steps if you want.

    Most importantly, though, don’t leave old food on your grill until it molds.

    I’ve been grilling near fifty years. I’ve retired a half dozen Webers and many more lesser brands. I was on a pro BBQ team and smoked 5-6 tons of meat over a decade and a half.

    I have never had this happen.

    You need to brush the grill down after every use , ya nasty .

    Kill it with fire. Guessing you kept the grill covered, it rained a bunch, opened the grill a few weeks (months?? Years?????) later to find this.
