Hello this is chef john from foodwishes.com with my buffalo chicken wing sauce i cannot believe i haven’t shown you this yet i know we’ve done wings before but we’ve never done the original buffalo style and like us folks from western new york it is a very simple thing okay so the two main

Ingredients are butter although according to my sources in buffalo the original recipe called for margarine don’t use it so we have butter we have frank’s hot sauce you can use louisiana hot sauce but frank’s hot sauce is the original a few drips of tabasco or other hot sauce worcestershire sauce of course

Some cayenne pepper garlic powder a pinch of salt and the secret ingredient white distilled vinegar of course all the ingredients will be on the site you know they will we’re going to put that over medium heat and we’re going to bring that up to a simmer stirring with a whisk and that

Butter is going to emulsify right into that hot sauce and into the acid from the vinegar and as soon as you see a few bubbles starting to simmer on the sides turn it off give it a whisk set it aside and reserve it now you’ve seen me make

Chicken wings before so i didn’t show that that’ll be on the site so i have my oven fried chicken wings you can deep fry them if you want all right not really necessary you’re gonna put them in a stainless steel bowl pour over some of the sauce now this much sauce will

Make enough for four to five pounds of chicken wings so i had like two and three quarters pounds here so i used about a half pour the sauce over put a plate or pan on top and give it a shake that’s how they do in buffalo they don’t

Stir they shake once it’s coated you can serve as is or if you want to dry them out a little bit throw them back on the sheet pan drain the oil off put it back in the oven which is still a little hot and let them sit there for about 10

Minutes and the sauce kind of dries onto them a little bit either way delicious frank’s hot sauce is not very spicy so if you want this to be extra spicy make sure you kick it up with some hot sauce or some cayenne and so forth anyway just

A little quick and easy video on how to make buffalo style chicken wing sauce by the way this is very close to the original recipe i went to college with the cousin of a busboy that worked at the original anchor bar in buffalo said

This is what was in it pretty much so i hope you give this a try all the ingredients are on the site and as always enjoy you

  1. Yes, THIS is true "Buffalo" wing sauce, its all about the vinegar makes all the difference. Other sauces are simply wing sauces, but if you say BUFFALO in your sauce, it better have vinegar!

  2. Oh How I Love This Man! If I Was A Gays Man I'd 5uck Chef John Silly! Silly I Tell Ya! Silly! No Wait Did I Say That Out loud???

  3. Made these today. Awesome. Best I've eaten. Takes about an hour (boil, dry out, bake) though so make a big batch. Make sure the baking sheet is rimmed. Oil dripped into oven and smoked up my kitchen setting off fire alarm.

  4. What I find so wonderful about food is you can change a meal just by changing the sauce or seasoning. It’s great!

  5. I like the idea of making different types of wings, I just cannot eat the hot ones. I enjoyed the recipes anyway. Dee Dee

  6. My nephews second cousin removed, ex mother in laws husbands son worked there and he said it is real close to the recipe, lol, you crack me up john

  7. What good is a recipe if you don't give the measurement of ingredients? You just like hearing yourself talk. I say that because no one else is listening!

  8. It’s Frank’s hot sauce, and butter. Period! I’m from Western New York, and the Anchor Bar was such a big deal, we made pilgrimages for the wings, before every bar in a 50 mile radius hit on Frank and Theresa’s golden recipe. Met them once, eons ago, before the expanded restaurant became a destination for bus tours, and international idolizations. Family still drops in when paying a visit to the area, to pay homage to greatness.

  9. I think this was invented by a mom in Buffalo who made them for breakfast for her hungover son.. wasn't the stroy on an episode of Parts Unknown with Anthony Bourdain?

  10. Kinda funny. Look at the franks ingredients: cayenne, distilled vinegar, salt, garlic powder. Why re-add all of them?

  11. Even though the original Buffalo wings had no cayenne pepper, just from knowing this fools recipes he will add it. Yep I am right Capt. Cayenne strikes again. He really is a one trick pony. Butter is the way to go, he is correct there. No tabasco!!! Yes, they need to be deep fried, baked wings suck! They can be kept warm in the oven if you are feeding a bunch and have a small fryer. I lived near Buffalo back in the 80's, nobody used cayenne in their wings, nor ranch, nor tabasco. Frank's Red Hot (original), butter, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. You adjust the heat by varying the butter to Frank's ratio. Some celery, blue cheese, and a good Canadian beer (Labatt's Blue), you are in Buffalo wing heaven. If you like them, carrot sticks are OK too, but added, not replacing the celery!

  12. Hi when you posted this on Allrecipes, you forgot to include Tabasco sauce on the recipe card on there

  13. Their is a restaurant chain in Florida that my boyfriend say's has the BEST wings he ever put in his mouth! The secret? They grill them over wood! 😳

  14. I have been using this recipe for a while now. I use so much it doesnt last long. I think the ladies at the grocery store think I might have a screw loose when they see how much Franks I buy. I drizzle this on mac and cheese, rice, beans, omelets and other side dishes. I'll pour some in a bowl and dip carrots and celery in it.
Now that I think about it, a cashier once noticed I often bought 5lb bags of carrots. The look on her face made me laugh.
I dont remember what I said to her. At this point its just a moment in time I remember laughing.
