The final product came out amazing. It’s a little salty but that can easily be managed in the future. I’m never buying bacon ever again.
I smoked it in my charcoal grill using maple that came from the maples around my home. Literally paid 6.50 – 7.00 for 2 pounds. Buying the same level of product would cost three x.

My husband has a smoker and when we go to Costco he gets a pork belly to make bacon. I can never go back to packaged bacon now. Yours looks amazing. And the saltier the better imo

Look into Buckboard Bacon. You take a boneless pork shoulder roast and then smoke it. It’s a meatier version of bacon.

When pork shoulder is less than $2# we cure a few roasts.
