Can anyone help me troubleshoot my macarons? They’re blueberry macarons but they look a little burnt. Baked at 300F for 17 mins. The texture and bake is fine but the color is well… brownish. Im sorry about the poor lighting – I took the picture on our white dining table.

I powderized some freeze dried blueberries I had and added them to the batter. Added a couple drops of gel coloring to get them more blue but that’s the only difference. I’m guessing the freeze dried blueberries are the culprit but how? Why? Something else gone wrong? TIA!

I use freeze dried strawberries in mine and never get a color change. One thing that immediately comes to mind is that it make be over baked. I would check to make sure your oven is not running hot as that time/temp seems correct. If you don’t want to check I would just lessen the time by a minute or so. As that can make a huge difference. I’m not sure what you mean by the feet so someone else might. Hope this helps 🙂

I’m having oven issues of my own, so I can’t comment on that, but usually brown is from them baking just a tad to long or hot. As for the feet, from what I know, and bare in mind I’m still a mac newb, but I think the batter maybe be slightly over mixed when the feet do that sticking out to far.
