I was asked to make a cake for my future sister and brother-in-law’s “meant to bee” themed wedding shower. I learned about fault line cakes and decided to give a go at it, using honeycomb as my middle layer. The honeycomb is white chocolate painted gold. It was a lot harder than I thought it would be, and I had a difficult time trying to make the frosting smooth. Many of the examples I saw online were perfectly smooth and I just could not get it to look like that. If I pressed too hard, the frosting would start to pull off the honeycomb. I was using buttercream frosting. It was also 84 degrees in the house so Im not sure if that also contributed to my issues. Any tips?
