Does this happen to anyone else’s zucchini and/or cucumber? Half the time when we cut into it after taking it out of the fridge/hello fresh bag, there’s a strange dark circle around the outer layer of the vegetable. It’s getting annoying ngl!

it’s too cold. if you’re able to determine if it comes like that or if it happens with your own storage, then you’ll know whether to complain to HF or your fridge temp might be a little too low/you’re storing your cucs in a cold spot in the fridge so you could try moving it to a warmer spot next time to see if that helps.

  2. This happened to me when my hello fresh bags were stored at the back of my fridge. Moved to the front it wasn’t an issue

They always pack the cucumbers and zucchini next to (or on) the ice pack. I almost always end up throwing out the cucumbers because they’re gross. Now I’ve just stopped buying meals where cucumbers are included. Zucchini is not as bad because if you cook it it still tastes great! I have the same problem with lettuce.

That happens when zucchinis get frozen. They’re still edible, but they lose a significant amount of structural integrity. So be careful when you use them. They might get a little squishy/ slimy.

  6. I live in a pretty wintery climate, and I can always tell when my box was toward the outer side of the pallet on the trip over the mountains. It’s just a little frozen, it’s going to end up cooked anyway. And for the cucumbers just treat them like you would a pickle.

However when I do go to the grocery store I always make sure I pick up one or two tomatoes. Those tomatoes ripen on my counter and get subbed in for the understandably unripe hellofresh ones. Those sit around for a couple of days and get subbed out in the next recipe.
