Korean-American here. That’s barley tea (boricha – 보리차). It’s for making tea by boiling the grains and then straining them out of the water. It’s great hot or iced.

I love to make roasted barley tea cold-brew. Just leave a few bags in a pitcher of water in the refrigerator for 12 hours or more and it’s very tasty

I used to drink it all the time in the summer because I hated water. Grandma made a huge brass kettle full of it every day. Good times

Per korean foodlore, roasted barley tea is for summer bc its a “cold” tea and roasted corn tea is for winter bc its “warm” tea.
I just say fuck it and drink half and half all year long. Lol.
