My Korean coworker gave me a bag of these. They were like lollipops (I think? They had a stick in them). They sort of tasted like creme brulee in a candy.

It’s called Dalgona. It’s made by melting sugar and adding baking soda. I believe these candies were featured in Squid Game.

So this is dalgona. This is the eponymous reason why Koreans, and as a result a lot of K-pop stans, made the whole dalgona coffee thing a craze. It’s a familiar childhood snack to many of us.
I grew up calling it ppopgi hearing it from my Seoul born parents, my preschool friends called it ttigi in daejeon. It was popularized in the western mainstream by squid game, where the contestants had to extract the shape in the candy, in your case a star, without breaking it.
