**Price:** $4.50 Rainbow Tomato Gardens (have seen it as low as $2.50 though)
**TLDR**: I decided to have these for lunch before a large social event, and once I had the full bite (furikake coverd hot brown rice with a slice of kimchi) I was in heaven. I was literally distracted for the next couple of hours thinking back on this meal.
**Packaging:** Oval tin with attractive colors/pictures/etc. This tin has been staring me down since I picked it up in my last order, and opening it up to see two lovely packaged pacific sardines was just lovely. I knew once I saw the layout in the tin that I was in for something special.
**The Fish:** I tried the sauce on its own first. I noticed a mild and sweet flavor of a soy bean paste, but nothing super intense. I took a small bite of the fish itself next and I was pretty happy with the flavor, though it wasn’t very strong, and the fish was lovely and firm.
I planned to eat this with some re-heated brown rice with a bit of furikake sprinkeled over the top. I just put the fish on the rice and broke it up sloppy-style with my spoon, mixed it all up and topped it with some kimchi for each bite.
Mind-Blown
I didn’t realize how good these simple flavors would combine, but it was superb. The sum was greater than the parts, and I really wish I had another dozen or so cans for a very similar lunch on the regular. I usually have a large thing of rice in my fridge for adding to meals throughout the week, and this was the perfect topper. A full meal that was completed within the 60 seconds it took microwave the rice. Chef’s Kiss, really, can’t recommend this enough.
**Would I buy them again?:** Absolutely, I’m going to try to find a 12+ pack for a cheap price. I would love to have this for lunch 1-3 times a week, what a treat that would be.
**Overall:** 4.5/5, couldn’t stop thinking about this very simple meal the rest of the day, 100% recommended.

This is the Nissui “Marriage side-dish” sardines in miso stew, and I agree it is DELICIOUS!!
All the oval tins of Japanese fish in the various sauces are delightful.
