Made Kenji’s Shepherds Pie with two tweaks: I had three pounds of ground venison I needed to use and I didn’t have any red wine and I omitted it and added a splash of sherry for depth instead. I added beef lard to the venison for fat content.

Crucify me if you will for my two subs! 🙂

    So, what is it called with venison or elk? Hunter’s pie? This is in my regular rotation with all the ground elk in my freezer, but the pedants must call it something other than “Shepherd.”
