Moo Shu Pork (Beef) Bowl
I have loved almost EVERY HelloFresh meal so far except this one. I mainly subscribe to HelloFresh for new meal ideas and to skip grocery shopping/meal planning when lazy. I then save the good recipe cards to shop on my own later.
However this meal was so bad for me, wondering if others liked it – maybe I did something slightly wrong? I felt the rice would’ve been so much better without the butter and there was far too much sauce – I couldn’t even taste the beef.
My second complaint is that this meal wasn’t quite 2 servings, really only 1.5 maybe…
Thanks for coming to my TedTalk. Hope you all are enjoying your meals!

I honestly love this bowl so much. Sorry you didn’t like it 🙁
Oh this is one of my all time favorites. Think that’s what I’m getting ready to cook right now.
As far as portion goes. When I see the recipe calls for 3/4 cup of water, I know the rice will be small. For this meal, if I’m STARVING I will add a bell pepper and split an avocado with my wife. If we don’t have those, like 99% of the time we do, then add another rice. If the give a lemon or lime, I always zest it and find a way to use it. Never have lime wedges left over either. Squeeze them in the meat, right at the end. Scallion greens, usually add those into the rice when I fluff it. I add a little different seasoning too. If they send more sauce but tell us not to use it all, but add sugar, we usually use more sauce and don’t add the sugar. HF is just the starting point for us. I don’t think there’s any meals that we don’t mess with. Might have overcooked the cabbage on your dish.
Mine was fantastic tonight!
This wasn’t a hit for us either, but that’s not typical!
This one was way too sweet for me and I didn’t add the extra sugar or use all of the sauces.
This is my favorite, I do opt for the pork though
My kids love this one. We usually get the pork. It does need more rice though!
I liked it ok. I did not care for the golden tofu marsala… thought that one was super bland.
how funny, it’s definitely one of my favorites and i recreate it regularly! but i do agree that the rice portion is quite small.
I got it for the first time today and we just demolished it. It looked and tasted great. I added fresh chopped ginger, bok choy and shallots for bulk, plus a splash of my fave Korean bbq sauce. Delish. Didn’t even need all the rice.
Your dish looks a lot darker than my version did. Could you have overcooked the meat?
I like it
With peace and love your beef looks a tad over cooked maybe
This was our favorite! We got it with shrimp this time.
I’m curious. Why did you get beef with this? Beef on its own is such a strong favor. I have only had Moo Shu with pork, chicken, tofu and some seafood.
For 2 servings they give you 3/4 cup of rice. For my family of 3, I usually make 1 cup of rice which serves 3 people well.
This is one of my favorites!
We actually weren’t a fan of this one, either. I mean, it wasn’t *bad*, just one we’d never choose again. Then again, our cooking experience has vastly improved since some of recipes we chose long ago, so I’d maybe give it another chance if there was literally no other option. Yours looks really pretty though!!!
This is one of my all time faves, but I opt for pork and do add some rice to up the portion since I always have some on hand anyways
This is one of my faves! It gave me so much food and tasted amazing. I’m sorry you didn’t like it🥺
No not the moo shu pork bowls!!! Theyre so good!
This is one of my favs! So easy!
Did you perhaps add all of the soy sauce glaze? I also skip the extra sugar.
Well, that’s not what I wanted to hear before mine get here tomorrow. 🫤
We had this tonight and truly loved it.
This one is so good I’m sorry it wasn’t great for you. Me and my wife usually add sriracha sauce or yum yum sauce to enhance the flavor
I like this one but we never do the butter and only use about half the sauce recommended and it comes out so much better (to our tastes.)
This is one of my faves!
It looks like you left the sauce on the heat for too long. Moo Sho looks a lot closer to the picture when cooked right.
