Finally decided to buy a box of fiber gourmet. I’ve seen it here many times, but resisted because there’s no reason pasta should cost $10 per pound. But I’ve seen it at the grocery store a few times, and decided to try it ($4.89 per 8oz box at Meijer 😩).
I really like it! Tastes the same as regular pasta, but the texture is just a bit more “Al dente” than usual. I’m not sure if cooking it longer would fix that- I cooked it for 17 minutes and then for a few more minutes in the sauce (box says to cook for 15-17 minutes). For half the calories of normal pasta and 10x the price, I could see myself eating a box per week.
Anyone have tips on where to get this for the best price? 4.89 isn’t the worst price in the world but it’s not ideal… and for those who have tried cheaper alternatives like carbe diem, how do they compare? I hesitate to spend $30+ on a multipack from Amazon in case I hate it, and this is the only brand I can find locally in stores.
PS the carb count is only that high due to the high amount of insoluble fiber in the pasta

Wow this looks good I get that same sauce from Aldi but I’m hoping to find some noodles like that so I can make a spaghetti with some home made garlic bread.
I used to be a huge fiber gourmet fan, but then they changed their formula a few years ago and the taste wasn’t as good and it took way longer to cook. I used to order from Netrition, they seemed to have the best price and you could get free shipping if you spent $50 I think. I’ve never seen it sold in stores near me so $4.89 actually sounds pretty cheap.
I now only eat Carbe Diem, it’s the same calories but it tastes like the old fiber gourmet formula, almost indistinguishable from regular pasta. They even started selling it at my local Costco, a huge bag of penne for like 6 bucks
