A tip shared not to long ago for single serving: Put the number you need in a sandwich baggie and close. Crush with fingers while in the bag and dispense, holding back stems. No more eye burn, caps does not easily come off. My go-to method.

Food safe plastic glove and your hand. I’ve done it bare handed and it’s caused some….issues even with serious handwashing afterwards. Arbol are my go to chili flakes.

I use one of those simple manual nut choppers. The ones with a jar and a spring loaded chopper on the lid. I find that it works well to get small flakes and it doesn’t crush/grind them down to powder.

If you use a spice grinder or coffee grinder that is now your spicy pepper grinder. I clean mine out well after grinding chilis but the oil stick around even after washing.
