I have like the equivalent of $5 left to add to this to make it last as long as I can until I get paid. I also have a couple of stock cubes, am onion and unsweetened chocolate powder.

I now only eat twice a day breakfast and tea, skipping lunch
Any ideas on what to add? I don’t eat meat and I don’t like beans and pasta but I can force myself to eat them.

So my question is with $5 what would you buy that’s most cost effective and stretches furthest?

Example prices where I am (rounded)
$7-9 per box of cereal
$3 a loaf of basic bread
$6 a tub of margarine
$4 x4 apples.
$1.50 per a single pepper etc

Hey OP, depending on what other things you might have in your pantry, you could buy flour/eggs and make some oat muffins, and then have eggs as a savoury option.

The eggs + onion could work as an omelette.

If you have some rice in the pantry, eggs rice and onion could be a bit more flavourful and filling!

Sorry if you don’t have quite enough for the above options. I’d love to help more if I can, I know it can be hard and that you have only got so much to work with sometimes.

Hope it helps!! Also I heard if you type into ChatGPT what you have in the pantry, it can populate a bunch of recipe ideas based on what you have!

Dont you have food banks around you? Everyone can have hard times and there absolutely no shame to ask for temporary help.

Buy 1kg of unbranded plain flour and you can make oat flat breads with oats, flour, oil, water and salt, dip it in olive oil for eating.

Make a protein shake on water and use that to cook oats in, add chocolate powder for variation.

Walk your neighbourhood and look for fruit hanging over people’s fences.

Hit up your local food bank, no shame in it, have done it myself and you’d be surprised at what you can get, some good dairy and sometimes meat and eggs.
