In this episode I will show you how to  make easy and delicious shrimp fra diavolo First we’re going to make the sauce take one  medium onion and roughly slice it fry Diavolo   is an Italian classic sauce made with tomatoes and  chili flakes great for seafood and pasta transfer   sliced onion into the bowl and put it aside for  now preheat the sauce pan to medium heat pour

Some olive oil and transfer onions in saute it for  about 5 minutes until onions become translucent   add 1 tbsp of chopped garlic mix it and let it  sauté for additional minute add 28 oz of crushed tomatoes 1 tbsp of dry

Oregano one string of fresh basil tear the  leaves from the stem and add the stem as well season it with salt and fresh ground black pepper and let it simmer on a low heat for about  30 minutes meanwhile I will prep the shrimp I got

A shrimp with a head skin and tail on and I’ll  show you how to clean it first let’s remove the head and then peel off the shell please subscribe to my channel press the  Bell to get notified about my beautiful delicious videos carefully remove the tail and shrimp is

Peeled the heads and the skin I’m not discarding  I’m going to put it in the zip lock back and put   it in the freezer I will use it for my shrimp  stock for my next recipe and it’s very important

To devein the shrimp you can remove the vein  cutting the back of the shrimp with a pairing   knife and remove the vein with your fingertips  but for this dish I prefer to slice the shrimp

In half and then clean it on both sides so after  the shrimp is cooked it will turn into spiral shape 30 minutes passed get a  hand blender and blend the sauce add 28 oz of diced tomatoes this way I’m trying  to achieve more rustic texture of the sauce and

We don’t have to blend it anymore season it with  some salt and black pepper and and return it back   on a low heat for additional 45 minutes now  let’s saute the shrimp season it with salt

Black pepper and drizzle it with some olive oil  mix it and now let’s sear them preheat the sauté   pan to medium high heat pour some olive oil  and give a shrimp a quick sear for about 30

Seconds per side the purpose is not to fully  cook the shrimp but just to get a nice sear   on each side and make sure not to overcook the  shrimp it will be the worst to bite into chewy   overcooked shrimp transfer the shrimp into  the plate or sheet pen and put it aside for

Now now let’s prep other the ingredients  get one shallot peel it and finally dice it I got three Calabrian chilies it’s marinated in   olive oil it will add spicy smokey and  fruity taste to the dish let’s try a

[Music] piece it’s very good I love it take  1/4 of a bunch of of parsley chop it fine and   put it aside now let’s cook the linguini pasta  bring the water to a boil season it well with

Salt Place Linguini in I’m cooking 8 oz of  fresh pasta and you need to cook it just for   2 minutes but if you cannot find fresh pasta  you can definitely use dry pasta and cook it   by following the package instructions remove  the pasta into the bowl you can drizzle pasta

With some olive oil to prevent from sticking  and don’t forget to reserve some pasta water   all ingredients are ready and now let’s put  together this beautiful shrimp fried diavolo   get it to pan where I cooked the shrimp pour  some olive oil add shallot sauté it for about

3 to 4 minutes add 1 teaspoon of chopped garlic  let it sauté for additional minute add 1 teaspoon   of red chili flakes calabrian pepper and saute  for about 1 minute deglaze the pan with 1 cup   of dry white wine here you need to use use  expensive one but make sure not the cheap

One cooking one so you want to use something that  you’re going to drink add couple ladles of tomato sauce add shrimp pasta pour a half a cup of pasta  [Music] water season it with salt   and freshly ground black pepper [Music] mix it

Add some more sauce if necessary chopped  parsley mix it all together well make   sure that the pasta is not dry and nicely  coated with this beautiful delicious sauce   add half a cup of Parmesano Reggiano and my beautiful delicious shrimp fra

Diavolo is ready plate it and decorate  it with some fresh basil as always [Music] enjoy

  1. Hello Lenny, I've just found ur channel! I'm really excited since you have tajine recipes. I just bought one recently but mine is completely cast iron. I didn't realize that until it was delivered. Can't use tomatoes or citrus in cast iron, as you know. I saw your fish recipe. Are there others? I tried to find some on line but they used tajine as a type of cooking as opposed to a vessel to cook in.I looked for one using eggplants. No real luck. Any suggestions? Thank you for your help.😊
