Welcome back to lemons and larksburg today as you can see I have some annels to pot up I’m just going to refresh a couple of my container roses with some pansies and these beautiful Primrose and then in honor of Valentine’s Day I succumbed to the grocery store roses aren’t those beautiful I

Have a terra cotta pot that I’m going to put these in and I think they look just so pretty together can you see that um that I’m sure I will intermix all of this so let’s see what I come up with plus I have some harvesting of one of my

Raised beds uh I have some radishes I believe maybe some turnips that I want to check on so let’s get to gardening If you’re anything like me as soon as the first hint of spring arrives I’ve got to get me some color in the garden and the easiest way to do that is with seasonal annuals I do this in the spring I will also do it in the fall anytime

That the garden just seems to be needing a little pickme up I will head to my local nursery and pick pick up a few pretty colorful annuals first thing I’m going to do is pot up this beautiful pink rose that I found at the grocery store now those

Grocery store roses a lot of people want to keep them inside but they’re not meant to be inside they like any other Rose they want a good 6 to 8 hours of sunshine so I have found that putting them in small terracotta pots or even in

A larger pot um with other perennials or annuals is such such a great way to stretch out um the time that you enjoy Them I even use them in the landscape and they do just Fine N And in case you haven’t figured it out by now I am a more is more kind of girl in the garden especially with annuals they’re not meant to last more than a few months so go ahead and enjoy them to the fullest right away now perennials I will

Space properly because I do want to give them enough room so that they can reach full maturity and do what they’re supposed to do um but the beauty of annuals is you get that instant Gratification Didn’t this turn out Beautiful the next task at hand is to clean up this patio rose bush that I have I did most of my major pruning on my roses last month in January which for zone 9 uh be here that’s the time that we do it but this one for whatever

Reason it must have still been blooming or something I did not finish that task so that’s what I’m doing here and then just cleaning out all the debris on the bottom um both for the health of the plant and to give me room to put a few of the pretty annuals in here This pot contains some Salvia and I believe some Nisha which are um perennials so I’m just kind of trimming them down cleaning them around them and then I’m going to just freshen up the soil all the way around [Applause] Don’t be afraid to add soil to existing pots and existing perennials it’s not necessary to uh remove them and then replant them you can just tuck this soil in all around plants are amazing ly resilient they will find their way to the Sunshine He These already look so pretty but they will look even better in the weeks to Come so now I’m just going to repeat that process here on this other patio rose that I have clearing it out adding soil and then adding the pretty an I as I started to work on this second patio Rose I noticed that it had retained quite a bit of moisture from the last uh rainstorm that we had so I went ahead and propped it up with a small rock just to make sure that all of

That water had a place to run out so that’s why you’re seeing the little bit of Wobbling N Now to add the finishing touch a little bit of Whimsy which is another way to bring just a little bit of happiness en joy to your [Applause] Garden I’ve been meaning to pull back The netting on this raised bed I have some cool season uh vegetables in here some root vegetables radish turnips some carrots and then onions planted around the whole perimeter of it but I was having a problem with possums getting in here and digging up everything as soon

As I put it in so I’ve had to net It I know it’s not very attractive but it has been effective at keeping the rodents out so for now until I can figure something else out this will have to Do like I said I’m in zone 9B so we are getting pretty close to putting our spring and summer vegetable and flowers in the ground so I’m just going to go ahead and pull whatever um root vegetables specifically today turnips that have reached their maturity they’re not as big as I would

Like them to be but they are already out of the ground so I know they’re not going to get any bigger so I’m just going to pull the roots clean them up and I will use what part of the fruit vegetable I can use and then I’ll give the rest of the

Turnip greens to the rabbit I’m sure he won’t mind that one Bit [Laughter] So that’s it for this week’s video I want to thank you for joining me again we give you one last look at these pretty planners it sure does make a difference to see that color and it is a reminder that spring is just around the Corner Once again thank you for stopping by and I will see you in the next Video

  1. Just love that new rose and the annuals. My nasturciums seeded all over the back garden and they are everywhere. I have to check to see if my other flowers are even making it where the nasturciums took over my barrel. How do you keep your bunny from eating all you have? Does he stay outside?

  2. Such a beautiful rose. Is that a miniature rose. Loving all your other selections too. Still covered in snow here in my Canadian garden. Bonny

  3. I love the part where you harvest from your garden. Inspiring. I used to have a great garden and then we lost our wall in a terrible rain storm years ago and it felt like starting over. I didn’t have it in me, your videos make me want to begin again.
