In today’s video, join me for a Sunday in my garden as I plant some vegetables in containers to save space in my growing beds for larger crops. I also begin planting up my new herb garden.
I would love for you to let me know in the comments if you have had success with container grown plants and vegetables? How do you make the best use of the space that you have in your gardens?
Whatever you are up to, I hope you you have a wonderful week in your gardens! Happy Sunday and happy gardening everyone 💚🪴🎊

Hello and welcome back to Sundays in the garden my name is Sarah and if you’re new here I’m share all of the things I get up to in my English cottage garden and alotment area in the United Kingdom I share gardening tours gardening Vlogs Seas to S at different times of the year
Jobs to do at different times of the year and everything else I get up to in my garden so if that sounds like something you’d be interested in I would love for you to subscribe so you can stay up to date with everything I’m sharing today I’m going to show you some
Different things you can do with containers if you’re short on space I picked up these wonderful old chimney pots on Facebook Marketplace for less than £20 and I’m going to use them to create my new herb garden you can pick up secondhand pots and even in chimney pots in places like
Facebook Marketplace and eBay and it’s a great way of saving money and space in the Garden here I’m filling the pots with compost to get them started and then I’m going to put in my first few Herbs all done and I love them already in this first pot I’m going to pop some Rosemary when we first moved into our house 10 years ago there was a rosemary plant in exactly this position so I know this new plant is going to be really really happy in this sunny and
Shelter the roots on this one are absolutely amazing so I’m just going to tickle them a little bit at the bottom to separate them out and then they’ll be able to sit a bed in nicely into their new home we use roast every week in our roast dinner and I love this one
Already next up I’m popping in some oregano and this is something we use in our Mediterranean cooking which we always have at least once a week and it’ll be a great staple for the kitchen and finally I’m going to pop in some thyme in the final planter and we
Use this in our roasts too and I know will be absolutely Delicious giving these a lovely water now to help them bed into their new homes and I can’t wait to start using them in the coming weeks and months there are still three empty Planters at the back here which I haven’t yet decided which herbs I’m going to pop in
So if you’ve got any idea of what you would pop into your three spare Planters let me know in the comments and there you have it a rustic container herb garden I love it so much already what would you plant in the final three you can plant nearly any flour
Vegetable or plant in a container if the container is large enough so I’m taking this 30 cm pot and popping in these carrots they’re only dwarf carrots so they don’t need a huge amount of space and in the container I have put some compost on top of the compost I’m
Sprinkling in some seed compost as this should really help the seeds to take well next I’m going to water the compost before I put any seeds in this means that the compost gets nice and wet and won’t move around so once the seeds are in they will stay where I put them and
Won’t get washed Around patting it down here so the seeds have a nice firm base to bed Into I’m sewing them thinly all around the pot and then once they start to come up I can thin them out to make sure there’s an equal spacing between them finally I lightly sprinkle in about a centimet of compost to make sure that all the seeds are lightly Covered finally taking a smaller watering can this time I’m gently watering the seeds with a light flow of water this is a nice light flow so it shouldn’t wash the seeds away but make sure that they get nice and wet and bedded In Next I’m taking this small 20 cm Bowl container and I’m going to plant it up with some of my lettuce seeds first I fill it with some compost and water it well this will stop all the seeds from moving Around I have this Thompson and Morgan red lettuce and this Thompson and Morgan green lettuce and I’m going to pop them in one variety on each Side again I cover lightly with about a centimet of compost and water Well if you find yourself short on Space perhaps you filled up your growing space with lots of other things or perhaps you have a balcony area or a patio area pots are a wonderful way of growing lots and lots of different varieties of flowers fruit and vegetables in a small and
Contained way containers are also a great option if you’re renting because you can plant your plants and take them with you wherever you Go when I’m walking back down the garden I always have to stop and have a look at my spring pots I’ve got some high scense in here some crocuses and daffodils coming up here and some daffodils in this one and in the back we have some beautiful
Tulips just starting to poke through the surface a promise of what’s to come and a wonderful way to end my Sunday in the Garden Thank you all so much for watching if you’ve enjoyed today’s video please like And subscribe and join me next week where I take you on a garden tour for February happy Sunday everyone see you next time

Hello
I do love watching you plant seeds. The wooden spoon label is a 🎉 FANTASTIC🎉 idea. As for planting herbs in the other three pots,I guess some ideas are marjoram, lemon verbena and sage. All very delicious in stuffing for your roasts. Take care and enjoy your Sunday and week ahead🥰☘️🌟
Hi again
I once saw a Jamie Oliver video where he sprinkled English powdered mustard on a gammon steak, and fried it with sage. His granny thought it was delicious and the mustard did not make it hot at all. I have tried your tomatoes recipe and my husband LOVED it. Thank you👏💚🤩
Basil, parsley and sage would be nice
Hi sarah ! You found a great find with the chimney pots ,I hope your herbs will do well for you ? Even though one is rosemary, my name lol 😅
Well those chimney pots are great. Perfect for herbs. I so t know much about herbs but I’m sure that you will get some great suggestions.
The carrots and lettuce will be delicious I reckon
Have a great Sunday.
This has really motivated me to plant some vegetables in pots. With our courtyard garden we have limited space. I will send you a photo to show how it goes. Have a good week ❤
I’d do something tall and flowering like fennel and lavender. When it’s warmer, cilantro and basil would be great to have for cooking too 🙂
Hi Sarah, thankyou for another lovely video.
The chimney pots look amazing , sage, basil and lemon thyme are another lovely combination.
I have an allotment and after watching your video's has inspired me to turn my back garden at home into a veg plot.
Have a beautiful Sunday xx
