My Very Different Vegetable Garden Begins Again

As I prepare for the next growing season I realize how easy it is to go down the rabbit hole called gardening this time last year I looked at the rising cost and made a decision to grow all my vegetables in my bag backyard while I always had a garden it

Was generally a matter of I got what I got that was that but last year I decided to get serious about it because now I had a goal I had to produce enough vegetables to replace what I got from the supermarket I watch videos read books

And realized I didn’t know as much as I thought I knew about growing stuff armed with new information I also realized I needed to expand my existing garden and built two new raised beds then two new beds turned into four that done I started my seeds and

Watched them begin to grow in no time I realized that what I had planted was going to really spread so now I needed to build trellises to have them spread up rather than out and the same thing applied to kneading a pole bean trellis I never hesitated but just kept going

And the vegetables did come and kept coming as I enjoyed just being able to walk out to the backyard and plan a meal oh did I mention that I started posting videos of the garden progress expecting no one to really watch and you showed up to hold me accountable so I

Had to keep going although that was never in doubt because I enjoyed the food Freedom the garden gave me and then the fall came and I thought the garden would wind down but it just kept going the kale actually produced more and so did the collars and the pole

Beans they became the gift that kept on giving and I was more than willing to accept and then I thought about planting things that light the cooler weather like red Russian kale that I have grown to love and sweet peas that never disappoint and then I discovered Co

Robie and cabbage as a cold weather crop and the garden continued to grow then if I could plant them then why not garlic I even built many green houses so the growing could continue and bought a blueberry bush just because I could I made all kinds of dishes and

Loads of salsa that lasted me through the football season so I was really in deep and now we come full circle to the same time as last year and I’ve begun the preparation for spring gardening only now I just added red onions near the strawberries I’ve started my tomatoes using the Double Cup

Method cut up and planted potatoes and my kitchen counter is covered with plants that are about to start I even found a couple of volunteer Maragos that I put in a pot and in one of the beds to add to my flower pollinator collection I have also put in

Floating planters that if all goes well should be brimming with flowers so all of this should give you an idea of how I went down the rabbit hole of gardening with a lot more to come I went from two beds to this then this to 16 beds if you count the floating
