What are your thoughts on Level 8?

I thought the concept of fancy Benihana x Steakhouse was great but was overall disappointed

– parking was a pain. Hotel did not park (only for hotel guests) and there was a kings game, so had to pay $35 to park next door
– let the steak rest too long, so it was cool by the time he served me , going around the table. Bernaise sauce was also cold
Steak was undercooked to my preference in the middle, given its thickness and only using the grill top
– price point
– level 8 was a bit too closed off, thought it would be more open but it was just a bunch of dark hallways
– magic show was cool for my nephew

  1. teppanyaki style cooking is pretty common in asia and varies wildly. You can go find teppanyaki stalls in street markets or go to high-end, ultra expensive A5 wagyu spots.

That said, there really does feel like there’s space in LA for a high end, sans kitsch, teppanyaki spot. We’ve got high end shabu shabu, coursed tempura meals, and, of course, sushi, so why not teppanyaki?

I thought it was gonna be a premium japanese style teppanyaki and it was basically Benihana with lipstick on.

Can’t hold parking against the restaurant.

I love the idea, wish the execution was better.

Not sure who told you otherwise? This has kinda been the case for a long time
