Hey so today I was gifted 20 pounds of rice by my uncle. (It’s shirakiku if that part is important) I have no idea where to start with this and wondering what recipes I can use where I can have rice as the main focus on the meal and taste good enough. Not trying to finish it a set date or anything, just never cooked more than a egg or boxed Mac & cheese and don’t what to make.
Pic shows the type I was gifted. I don’t got any allergies so I can use any ingredients.

1. It’s a medium grain rice, so you can use it in pretty much anything. Regular white rice, congee, sushi, poke bowl, in soups, make rice pilaf, jollof rice, fried rice…
2. Get a rice cooker if you don’t have one. Start by learning to cook regular white rice.
3. Get an airtight storage bin. The ones for dry pet food are great. Rice will store for a long time as long as you keep it dry.
It keeps.
I use rice quite a bit for things like Chicken Bordeaux, General Tso, or Stir Fried Rice which is basically just mixing stir fry ingredients into fried rice like a lo mein type dish but with rice instead of noodles.

If you get a rice cooker (or learn how to cook on stovetop), the rice freezes very good. When I make a big batch of rice (10+ cups), I put it in single serving containers and freeze. Just microwave for a minute or two and you got yummy rice. A good cheap meal is Fried spam, egg, and rice! So ono!
How about a nice vegetable rice soup? Or chicken and rice burritos? You could make several meals worth of burritos and freeze them individually for lunches and easy dinners. Just cook the rice, simmer some chicken drumsticks and thighs are generally low cost or bags of whole chicken legs, toss in half a jar of salsa, a burrito seasoning packet, a couple cups of water and let it cook in a crock pot 4 hrs high. Gently lift the chicken out of the crock when done to debone. Shred the meat with the leftover salsa and seasoning from the crockpot so it’s juicy and flavorful. You don’t have to use all the remaining juices but use enough the chicken is well coated and has juices around it. Toss in some shredded cheese mix well. Add some cooked black beans. I would cook from dried so it’s cheaper. Add the rice. Roll up good. Wrap tightly in butcher paper and ziplock. Freeze up to 4 months. Thaw and heat as needed. Rice pudding is always a delight. Veg stir fry is pretty easy and filling. Just make sure to store your rice in a sealed, dry container so it stays clean.
