Hello everyone I hope you’re having a fantastic day today we’ll learn more about the Mediterranean cuisin and diet and let me tell you today we will see one of the most popular dishes that you can find in any Greek Table all around the world and that’s the Greek
Salad or horiatiki now the ingredients are quite simple as you can see oh right here I’m pretty sure most of you got those uh at your home and they V and they vary from place to place others do not add the peppers other ones to and
The closure you go to Islands uh such as the doanes you might find capers or different pickled seawoods in there which is quite interesting um so one of the this is the uh depends hardly on the seasonality and the geography and if you want to learn more about the history and
A little bit of extra information I would recommend you stay until the end of the video which is not going to be a long one today um cuz it’s just uh a nice sh but yeah then you we will talk a little bit more about uh uh history and
Uh different uh interesting stuff now we will need uh two things uh I mean you can just do it straight onto a bowl like my grandma and most of the grandmas do it however I’m going to uh mix it into another bowl and then present it here so
It looks a bit more professional nice and less messy let’s secure and uh get a Cho board uh secure it by placing something wet like a towel or paper or even one of those beautiful Ms Ms here then we’ll leave the uh s knife and a serrated knife so we will cut our
Tomatoes into big tongs simply remove the little top don’t waste the Tomato that’s a same and then you can actually be a bit playful with the shape you can go smaller or bigger depending what you want you can all you you can use the bigger Tomatoes as well that they going
To be a bit more sweet but can change depending on what you can find now we’ll move into the Cucumber uh there are a lot of people that like to remove the skin I generally don’t like removing the skin vegetables unless I have to cuz you’re losing a lot
Of proteins and rations for this one you can either cut it in half and then slices but I’ll just go for full slice like that cuz that just looks nice moving on to the onion you will need uh just to cut it in half remove the skin and then some Thin
Slices cuz that affects a lot of Flavor of the salad it’s one of the main parts actually of the flavor so just going to slice it thinly as thin as possible now moving on to the pepper that’s something we’re not going to add into the bowl however we’re just going to cut
Around preferably no with seeds we’ll remove the little bit the white part is called the bone is a bit bit in the one there and then for that one we’re just going to do thin strips they don’t have to be perfect we just want them to be
There now one of the least last things we’re going to do we’ll get our Che knife and then we will drain our feta cuz usually they come with a little bit of uh a brine is needed to keep this amazing and pungent flavor and now here’s the important
Thing whenever you cut cheese you going to uh run or dip your knife into hot water uh boiling water other will just crumble up and the way you can and just dice it perfectly and that one as an example you can see it perfectly on cheese like Feta that is super super
Crumbly so we’re going to do beautiful dice here M oo okay okay and now it’s time to start putting stuff together we simply going to add some uh a good amount of salt a bit of uh pepper black pepper now this step is optional uh oregano and secret ingredient extra Vin
Olive oil a lot and a lot of Greek people what they do is uh so they will mix the salad so you know you bruise some vegetables and they get out of juices and it’s mixed with olive oil and the fats and all of Stu and then what is left from the bowl
They will they will get some bread and they will just toast it inside and it’s just an extra uh thing and now to add the finishing touches we will add some pepper um but pepper strips a bit randomly but we’re not done yet we got our feta like
So you can mix it inside as well if you would like for me I think it looks really nice for a presentation and for the car in purpose and the last thing I didn’t talk about is C mat olives I think this is such a phenomenal
Product um it doesn’t need to be camat olives you can use any olives or your preference I just think they taste amazing is a product from the region of camata and they think they’re very very nice so we’re going to add some of the bad boys and that will be our salad
However don’t forget in order to serve it you need to add the drizzle of olive oil on top again and a little bit of oregano for the presentation and here we are this is our uh uh Greek salad or horiatiki uh which literally horiatiki means uh kind of the villagers salad
From the village and that is connected with what we said uh previously about the geography and the seasonality and what uh the people could grow in their region uh is literally served in nearly every single table in the family in the household but even when Greek people go
Out on the tavern they will order one of those bad boys as well just because it’s healthy and phenomenal now the last thing we got to add here is some toasted bread and we’re ready to uh enjoy it here we’ve got our toasted bread simply in the toaster you can do it in
The pond if you would like with olive oil it’s up to you um but yeah this is how to make this beautiful and simple piece of beauty you can do it on daily basis is amazing is healthy as per diet says um the more colors you can add your
Uh everyday diet is the better for your health so you better invest some time on that cuz you only have it once thanks so much for watching uh I hope you loved it recipe can be found Down Below in description or you can go to our website
Yans scat.com and we’ve got an amazing uh blog there with lot of Adventure and P photography um what else as you’re down there you can click the red button and subscribe to supporters motivat us and get uh notified for future videos yeah have a beautiful day thank you

I LOVE this salad! My grandmother made it for me and it was my first introduction to feta cheese and kalamata olives. I fell in love with this salad and still make it myself.
