La grande Boucherie, a swanky French restaurant, is opening its doors following the opening of its sister resturaunt Olio e Piu.
I was invited to the pre opening event last night. Got in early at 7 and was immediately sat. Service was extremely slow (as to be expected). We experienced a chef selected tasting menu which consisted of 2 courses and dessert + a small cocktail/ wine list. Ended up getting out at 10pm.
The food was lackluster for the price. Nothing left me wanting more and the dessert was not great. They are known for the beef tartar and escargot which we didn’t get to try. Hopefully this underwealming experience was of a soft opening because I am not sure it will keep up with the rest of the offerings in River North.
However, interior was stunning and the atmosphere was great.
