They scored a 33. Second failing score in 12 months, so they got closed immediately.
Seems overkill for most fails, but… fucking 33? I knew they were bad, but damn.
Report obtained directly from Wilco Health Dept, I can forward the email w/attached PDF if the mods want it.

Never had Kim Phung. When first moved to Austin, already heard lot of bad things on the Lamar location.

Surprised anyone even goes to Kim Phung at all.

Unmarked spray bottles leads to a fun guessing game – if your mouth is burning from Thai chilis or bleach.

Now do Fat Dragon. They got dudes making dumplings 3ft from the public restroom with no divider. Ive seen baby roaches near their water/chili oil station, Also who knows how old that oil is.

Oooh, they have been going down hill the last couple of years..I think it changed hands a few times…it was not too bad pre pandemic. I went for the last time, last summer just got too gross.

Yeah, that place is a pale shadow of what Kim Phung used to be. For top tier Vietnamese, I hit Sunflower.

Proud to say I stopped eating at Kim Phung after my second food poisoning back in 2002

Their Riverside location was the dirtiest restaurant I have ever seen in Austin, so this doesn’t surprise me.

Kim Phung Riverside, takeout has pieces of broken glass in it. Like someone broke a bottle or glass above the line she didn’t clean up properly.
Called them to nicely let them know. They claimed there’s no glass in the restaurant, that it was impossible. They then accused us of attempting to get free food (we didn’t ask for anything) she hung up on us.
Went to leave an online review. Turns out *we aren’t the only ones* who have found glass.
Have you be careful ordering delivery, they have several “ghost” operations under other Asian names, all with their address.

Ages ago, Kim Phung on N. Lamar was my introduction to Vietnamese food. Ate there forever. Then they opened a shop by Lakeline that was on our regular list. So good. But it closed down. I tried the one in Cedar Park and it wasn’t the same. I haven’t been back to the N. Lamar location in ages, mostly because there are so many other great options nearby.

I’ve been warning y’all about Kim Phung

Ya’ll know the ones that fail the health inspection are the ones that make the best food right?
