Would you pay $200 a person for a special year restaurant on a cruise ship I was leery of spending that much money on any special year restaurant but I gave it a try and Roy kant’s icon of the Seas and you know what it was way more

Worth it than I ever expected the Empire Seer Club is one of many new restaurants that’s on Royal caran icon of the Seas icon is a brand new class of cruise ships it’s the new biggest cruise ship in the world and Royal kin wanted to

Bring in a lot of new ideas New Concepts new venues and we’re talking talking about new neighborhoods new activities and new dining on board the ship now the Empire Supper Club is a new kind of restaurant concept yes it’s especially restaurant which means it’s not including your cruise Fair restaurants

On cruise ships are either included or they cost extra and in the case of Royal Caribbean there’s been a selection of restaurants that have an extra cost to them but that’s essentially where the similarities end the Empire serer Club is different in a few ways first of all

It’s an eight course meal that combines food drink and entertainment into one there’s only one seating each evening it lasts 3 hours and there’s a formal dress code that is actually enforced in fact for men they must wear a jacket in order to dine here if you don’t have a jacket

One will be provided for you kids are allowed to D in here but there’s no children’s menu and the menu is fairly regimented in the sense of the choices there there’s eight course meal it’s already pre-selected for you and each course matches up with specific cocktail it’s a really interesting idea I never

Done a club before on land or at sea for that matter and I was excited to see what this could entail because $200 a person is expensive essentially for two people you’re spending $400 for only a 3-hour experience and $400 can go a long way during your cruise whether you’re

Going to buy a short Excursion a cabana or something else around the ship there are lots of ways to spend your money so I was a little leery of how that was all going to work you can book the Empire serer club either before the cruise or

During your sailing my advice is to book it beforehand because it’s very limited 38 seats per night and once it’s sold out it is sold out in the interest of full disclosure I dined at Empire supper club twice the first time was on a media preview Cruise in which I was invited to

D there by Royal Caribbean for no cost but then I went back again paid full price like everybody else on the inaugural sailing to try it again the Empire Sher Club is located right outside Central Park on Deck 8 and that obviously makes sense because the Empire

Serber Club is Loosely based on New York City the music the motif the food and the drinks are all based on New York New York as I mentioned each dish is paired with a special cocktail you can’t find anywhere else on icon you can select your main course and dessert but the

Appetizers have a set menu throughout the evening the American Standards Trio which consists of a singer a piano player and a double bass player perform sophisticated Jazz selections curated for the evening the music was fantastic to enjoy while you’re eating it’s a very small space so you really feel like you

Are a part of the the show in the sense that the music is being performed right in front of you the music certainly did not distract from the conversation and you can certainly talk during the meal it’s not like it’s a show or a performance the idea here is that the

Music augment the meal it’s not the focal point and I absolutely love certain songs they selected like wrap City and blue Beyond the Sea and of course New York New York so let’s go through the menu here to give you an idea of what to expect starting off with

Number one you’re going to have an AM use Bou which is our derve served on a small bagel with cream cheese and it’s really meant to be something to just like peek your appetite get things started and it’s a pallet cleanser and it’s topped with caviar and a really

Small bite and I actually enjoyed this quite a bit now this is actually paired with a glass of champagne and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with with champagne the rest of the drinks are actually cocktails but the first thing you start off with is champagne and yes you can get refills starter number two

Was a spicy peacon bread with honey and I got to say I like this a lot more than I thought I would essentially is bread with some on the top the bread is kind of thickish if you will I really enjoyed the consistency of the bread adding some butter was absolutely

Fantastic and then when you’re eating these things with of course Mo and shaal Imperial brute it is a really good pairing for sure now let’s move on to the appetizers first up are the oysters and they are described as crispy oysters rockfeller cizo bernes sundried Romas micro basil now if you’re not interested

In eating shellfish Royal caran will substitute this with a quen wa salad instead which includes avocado and beets and for all people that love oysters they described it as really tasty and a nice choice now being paired with this is the Statin Island Spritz which has Tito vodka Kario Lor lemon cello orange

Juice and champagne it certainly was a pretty looking drink and it’s not as sweet as I would have thought it was going to be I certainly would prefer to have a little more flavor I thought it was a little on the Bland side not that

It’s bad just not as potent if you will as I thought it was going to be appletizer number two is one of the main favorite dishes on the menu and that’s the raviolo the raviolo has a soft yolk spinach crisp Guan chal shaved borga and parmesano cheese and it was a really

Interesting dish I’m not a huge fan of egg yolks personally but people that are seem to really love this choice just as good is the cocktail pairing called the blood and Sand and this say deer Scotch Cherry Herring sweet forth and orange juice and I love this drink way more

Than I thought I would while I’m not a scotch Drinker by choice I really did enjoy the flavor of this and I could have had a couple of these to say the least appetizer number three is the langoustine which looks a lot similar to crayfish but they differ in the fact

That they grow in Salt Water season oceans whereas crayfish breed in freshwater rivers if langos is not of interest to you then saffron risotto is an alternative option you can get and actually this one of my favorite things I had while eating at Empire Supper Club

Period with the langos is east of H not Houston H that’s how they pronounce it New York and this drink has botnus gin lemon juice honey syrup orange bitters and champagne and it was a really refreshing drink it didn’t have a very strong alcoholic taste and it was just

Enjoyable to sip while you either were having of course your appetizer dish or in between in fact when all these dishes are served you know you’re going to have some time in between the different courses so it’s great to be able to sip on these cocktails and enjoy of course

The live music and Converse with people who you’re dining with appetizer number four is the Empire Caesar salad and it is almost too pretty to eat but definitely worth eating to say the least it has an amazing assortment of of course greens and Caesar salad dressing

I love the fact that the butterflies you see here are edible they’re made out of Parmesan cheese and you have the Crouton Arch it is just really beautiful to look at I got to say I enjoyed every bite of this Caesar salad after the salad of

Course it’s time to get ready for the meal and you’ll be served a pallet cleanser which is sorbet and I think pretty much everyone enjoy that so it was nice to have that as part of that when it comes to your Entre you’ll have a choice of three different Entre rabbit

Wu ribey or Chile and Seabass now depending on which entree you choose you’ll get a different drink as an example if you choose the Wu ribey you’re going to be served a New York sour which is a Bullet bourbon lemon juice simple syrup egg whites and clar

Wine and it actually has an Empire Supper Club Ice Cube on it which is a really nice touch while the riye is really good it is a little B on the small small side but I still think the Chilean sea bass is one of the best

Foods I ate on icon of the Seas you don’t have to be a big seafood fan to appreciate the tenderness and the flavor that you find here if you’re concerned about it being too fishy fear not it’s nothing like that at all I got to say I

Was blown away by it and the second time I went to Empire Supper Club I tried the rabbit I did not like it I thought it was a little too chewy and I told my waitress and before I could even like finish my sentence explaining why I

Didn’t like it she already had a Chile SE bass ready to go to give to me and I enjoyed that the second time around quite a bit drink number six is the toasted almond this might be my favorite drink I wish I could get this like Elsewhere on the ship Tito vodka Kua

Amoretto heavy cream and grated nutmeg this reminded me a lot of a coito which is a Puerto Rican drink you usually have around the holidays as well as of course eggnog I thought it paired well with the desserts but quite frankly I would have drinking it with almost anything else

Around the ship so again that was one of my favorites for dessert the first dessert going to get is cheesecake and you get a choice actually of both they bring you one of each so the first one is the cheesecake there it has a crust that’s made up of white chocolate I

Really didn’t love the consistency of it but hey it’s still cheesecake it’s hard to go wrong with that but by far the best dessert was the chocolate beehive which has ganache layers Blended together to create a real chocolate delicacy along with the mango sauce and salted caramel toffee it was absolutely

Fantastic and then they kind of surprise you although spoiler alert here’s what it is going to be with another dessert which is the Chocolate Tree now this dessert is not listed on the menu and it’s supposed to be a surprise essentially but all the chefs come out

Of the kitchen and serve these tall plates of cotton candy and of course the cotton candy dominates it’s supposed to look like a tree beneath it of course is chocolate and it’s just really really good so Empire shoer Club really impressed me on a lot of levels first of

All I thought that it really improved upon some of the issues I’ve always had with chef’s table and Chef’s Table is another specially restaurant concept on other real Caribbean chips it’s not something that’s exactly the same as the Empire Supper Club but for the sake of comparison it’s our best and closest

Idea the problem of the chef’s table is that you’re seated with strangers you’re served just wine and the food tends to be very frr whereas the Empire suffer Club I think fixes all those issues number one you’re seated at your own table number two you’re served cocktails

Which I think are more widely enjoyable than Wine and number three the food while certainly pretty and not exactly burgers and hot dogs I think has a wider appeal now the combination of the food the cocktails and the entertainment is absolutely fantastic now when you consider the fact that the lighting is

Really pretty in there and every table has a little light that can be adjusted and essentially this is supposed to be an intimate dining experience this is the kind of place where if you’re celebrating something special or you just want to get away maybe the kids are

Going to Adventure ocean and you want to have some time alone boy what a great place to enjoy a special meal because when you’re on a cruise I think having opportunities to do something special is something a lot of people look for it’s a question I get

All the time there were special touches that really made the Empire start plus stand out even Beyond of course the things we’ve talked about if you want to go to the restroom you’re actually going to be escorted by one of the waiters to bring you over there if you have a purse

They actually have a special holder for it that goes on the side of the table when you book The Empire Supper Club you’ll receive an actual letter in your cabin with an envelope and stamped wax with your invitation on when to arrive so is the Empire star Club worth

$200 a person well of course it’s a Splurge but I will point out a couple facts that might make the decision a little bit easier for you first of all the fact that you’re getting at least eight drinks included with the $200 is not bad Royal cion charges for cocktail

Somewhere between you know1 and $14 for a cocktail on board its ship and that’s before gratuiti so if you multiply out just the drinks you’re coming out to about $84 which leaves $116 for appetizers desserts the main course and of course entertainment if you think about it that way it’s really

Not a terrible value the Empire shoer Club is probably not a restaurant you want to eat at every day of your cruise it’s not like chops in that way but I think it is absolutely a must try at least once and I think for a lot of

People it will become a must try at least once per sailing as a special night out whether it’s formal night or a special occasion I think the Empire Ser Club is going to be very popular certainly not everything on the menu is exactly going to be your favorite food I

Thought the rabbit was a little bit chewy and some of the appetizers if you have special dietary needs may not be exactly what you’re looking for the good news though is they will work with you if you have special needs or you just prefer not to eat a certain kind of food

They can alter the menu slightly to meet your needs which is a really nice touch overall though I was very happy to spend the $400 for myself and Angie who was one of our writers to eat at Empire Supper Club I think it is worth the

Money and more to the point when I go back on icon of the SE with my wife I would love to take her here because I think it’s a really cool option something different and I appreciate how intimate different and formal this restaurant is to give us something else

To consider when choosing where to dine on icon of the Seas let me know in the comments below if you’ve DED at Empire Seer Club what your thoughts are on it and will you be booking Empire Seer Club is $200 a person for an experience like this worth it in your opinion I’m

  1. We are going on Icon in a grand suite end of October. Thank you for a great review. We are Travel Agents. I am ACC with CLIA.

  2. I'm so tired of channels like yours where your telling us stuff we can find ourselves, then making lots of money off it and rubbing all your vacations in our face and calling it work. Matt go chop wood or mine coal for the whole year. Then come back here and tell us how this wasn't up to par for you for the only 7 days you don't have to do manual labor out of the entire year. Get a real job, stop grifting folks. People just do the work yourself, you don't. need to watch him. It's all general info you can find yourself, or call the cruise line and speak to an employee who is actually doing a job, and not pretending cruising is like Matts does. Don't help people like this take nice vacations and fulfill his life dreams, all while you work your life away actually doing something important like a skill or profession.

  3. In terms of a follow up video, could you please tell us about things like the mocktail list (for those who dont or don't like the higher proof drinks and in terms of the formal and the jacket min requirement, are you allowed to get away with say a waistcoat, instead of a full jacket if you have a specific disability that would prevent you from wearing one?

  4. I am admitting to being way too cheap to even think of trying this. Sounds awesome but 200/person is a bit steep for me.

  5. We booked this with our large OBC for our Sept. cruise…based on you tube reviews, so we're very excited! We've never even done the Chef's Table yet! Toasted Almond was my go to in Las Vegas at the Bellagio, I must've had a hundred…so can't wait to taste theirs.

  6. Very impressive courses for dinner! Looks like some very delicious food and cocktails! The price point is more for a Celebrity cruise ship is my feeling than a Royal Caribbean cruise ship. I realize Icon needs some exclusive dining options for the passengers dropping up to 75K for a suite on that ship. I thought the 150 Central Park offered more practical but elegant dining for a far lower price point.

  7. I understand that the dining experience is meticulously crafted, but could you please find out (if you conveniently can) if they can modify courses for people with specific dietary issues. I can't eat seafood, or drink alcohol.

  8. Thank you for posting this! Booked this as a surprise for my partner and I but he is not a big seafood fan and I had heard they had alternative offerings but couldn't find it. This video is certainly appreciated!

  9. I travel alone now and this is the one restaurant where I think I'd feel uncomfortable dining alone, so it's a no go for me.

  10. I’d go for it, but I wouldn’t like having a dozen different cocktails. Most pairings involve a variety of wines.

  11. Great video. Thank you. Do you know if the Empire Supper Club is included with the dining package that you get for having a star class suite?

  12. Since the cocktails do not add value to those buying the drinks package, I was unsure whether this dinner would really be worth $200, but then I saw they provided a gimmick to hold a purse and I was sold!

  13. Thanks for the review and insight into what this restaurant experience is really like. I think I would not consider it without the review. I may do this at some point in the future when on an Icon ship.

  14. I wouldn’t spend $200 / person in that restaurant. I believe it is ridiculous if you don’t really drinks all the drinks.
Also it is a restaurant that they don’t have tablecloths on the tables.

  15. Hi Matt thanks again for your thoughts. But what if you don’t drink alcohol, would you still be able to enjoy?

  16. it's absolutely worth it! we've spent more than that on anniversary dinners, so I think this is like you said– an experience. Looks amazing!

  17. We enjoy the atmosphere at these venues but not so much the food or the alcohol (we don't drink). We don't take cruises for the opportunity to eat at specialty restaurants and we enjoy the food in the MDR / Buffet so we're all good. We did pick up a package on our next cruise in June 2024 that includes 2 specialty dining venues so it will be our first specialty dining on a cruise since our honeymoon on the Disney Magic almost 25 years ago.

  18. I'd try it. You only live once, after all. I don't like the idea of being escorted to the restroom, though. That's a little creepy. If you ply me with eight cocktails plus water, I'm definitely going to need to use the restroom – but I don't really want a waiter to follow along.

  19. Matt, I have been to high end restaurants in Boston, Massachusetts. Eight cocktails alone can cost $200 including tips at a fancy restaurant in many US cities. For me personally, who can only have one cocktail without feeling buzzed, this is definitely not for me.

  20. Probably won't book this venue on my September sailing on Icon as i am traveling with some picky eaters. With that said, i might splurge if my husband and i are on Icon by ourselves or with other foodies.

  21. We probaably wouldnt stop for the japanese anthem if we were there…but we cant wvwn get Americans to do it so why would we think others would?

  22. Not for me and my wife. Seems you have to be a drinker to get your money’s worth. We don’t drink so the cost is prohibitive. Rather spend almost $500 somewhere else.

  23. What a great idea – for Royal Caribbean. Rejigger their food somewhat, throw in a little music, make you buy their cocktails – all for a supplemental fee of $200pp. People will be taken in by anything, I think.

  24. 3:24 Amuse-bouches are not palate cleansers. That is more like a mid-dinner cup of sorbet. Amuse-bouches are more to wake up the palate and get excited it for the meal.

  25. not sure i'd want to be escorted to the restroom….unless it's in a bad neighborhood. even worse would be if they waited for you to escort you back to your table.

  26. I think once in like ever would be enough for me for this venue. I think it looks lovely, the food looks great and I'd be afraid of consuming 8 cocktails in a sitting. But 200 dollars is pretty rich. And I like getting a drinks package so the value dips if you have a drinks package. Granted you cant get those drinks anywhere else on the ship but I'm sure some creative people will be able to make a pretty good facimile of these drinks with what is already available at the bars onboard.

  27. $200 per person for 8 small servings with drinks, it’s a bit expensive, some people just love to pay for limited offerings
