Grill at my new apartment – worth trying to clean/restore? Looks neglected by the previous tenant but everything functions perfectly

Cleaned the grates a bit but some splitting and a lot more buildup left. Heat plates are a mess, look rusted. Front side of burners have what looks like mold, and the bottom has a lot of buildup but where I can see the SS it looks OK.

I do like a good side project though so something like a weekend long (5-8hrs) is fine, but am I better off just replacing it altogether?

If the heat shields cost more than the grill…. I’d save it only if there’s a cheap restore option on Amazon

If it fires up its a keeper. Most of what you described is not gonna hurt a thing. Most of the tubes look better than the stuff I’ve brought back to life.

    Have fun.

I used to say yeah but as cheap as they are now no sense in blowing your ass up trying to save a dime.

I just bought a weber, in what I’ll admit as much better condition, but it still needed some work. I cleaned it and replaced a few parts and it’s basically new.

Oh hek yes. Really would only take 90 minutes to make it work as good as new

Looks mostly rust free. Would probably scrub real good, maybe use some easy off if you want it to be pretty. Then clean and burn it hot and you got yourself a good grill.

Take it out back, shoot it in the head. Just kidding. If it works it should be fine.

  13. I love my Kenmore grill. Heavy as a tank though. Does yours have the smoker on the left? And the rotisserie?

Looks pretty serviceable to me. Heat plates are always gonna be a bit rusty and covered in gunk. Check the seals and lines are good if it’s gas but otherwise its absolutely fine to use
