I was recently at the Lakeline Mall for whatever reason when I stumbled upon Peri Peri Republic.

Peri peri chicken?? In Austin? This spot was nowhere near my radar and I’m often hesitant of mall restaurants, yet I saw a good amount of people in there eating and the food looked good, so I figured: why not?

I got the quarter leg and thigh ($12.49 with side and soda) which were so tender as well as their wings ($11.99 for 6) which were a great size – both in which I got in their medium sauce which I would suggest because it has a subtly sweet flavor with an enjoyable level of heat to compliment that char flavor of the meat. They even have some of the crispiest fries in town that I’ve had in town.

I know how it may sound being located at the Lakeline Mall, but don’t let that turn you off because the food here was pretty satisfying! I know we have Nando’s opening up in the area later this year and I have not been there, so I can’t compare the two, but if you have been to both – let us know your thoughts!

Thanks for the post. Loving these pictures and detailed posts.

  2. This just makes me miss Tio Pepe from the Linc.

Rumaan Palestinian Restaurant is also at Lakeline serving great food (especially the mezze) so that’s two great options in Lakeline, then. I’ve never stopped in Peri Peri Republic because it just looked like spicy fast food with lots of deep fried items to me, but the chicken in the OP does look good. The Peri Peri owner used to own Tempura Grill Pakistani restaurant on North Lamar (erstwhile Shalimar, now Usta Kababji), btw.

Made my first visit and had a good food experience. My chicken (and rice) were excellent and I loved the sauces. The guy up front was cool explaining things and answering questions. I’ve made an actual effort to tell folks around me about the place. They need more business.

I also stumbled in here last weekend and this place is great! Wonderful service as well. Also, it was so clean. I find that usually mall restaurants feel dirty and run down, but not here.

  7. It’s painfully generic food, always empty inside and this is most likely an ad.

They actually are on the too good to go app, and have bags for like 3.99.

i have a stupid question: is their food similar to nando’s, menu/taste wise? because i have been CRAVING nandos ever since i had it in chicago, but im not willing to drive my ass to houston (not yet anyway, LOL).

    Isn’t nandos coming soon?

Went for lunch the other day and it was delicious. Dead inside though, worried they won’t make it.
