My daughter (5YO) hates BBQ sauce, how can I rub pork ribs? I haven’t found a good recipe and would like to explore something else aside salt and pepper
How the A.1 works? Is before or after the smoke?

Can you clarify what you’re trying to do here? Are you looking for a binder to help the rub stick or are you looking for a finishing sauce? Don’t use A1 for either of those. I don’t see the ingredients or flavor working well with ribs.
If you need a binder, use yellow mustard.
If you want a finishing sauce, google some Asian or Cuban rib preparations. Also worth checking out Memphis style dry ribs that don’t use a finishing sauce.
I sometimes finish my ribs with Bachan’s Japanese BBQ sauce which tastes nothing like and American BBQ sauce. They are always a huge hit.
For Cuban style, check out an ajo (at least I think that’s the name) finish. It’s a lime, butter, and garlic sauce.

Bbq is not always sweet, there’s a million different kinds…you can just add a vinegar like apple to cut the sweetness. Or you can try sauces like Thai peanut sauce, charred pineapple bourbon….

I don’t use a finish sauce on ribs. I put the rub on with no binder (not needed) and then wait a few minutes until it draws moisture out and wets the rub thoroughly. Then I sprinkle brown sugar, tapping through a wire sieve, to lightly coat. The finished ribs look thinly glazed.

Chili sauce and jelly. Combine and heat it to render down the jelly. I like apricot preserves but just about anything will be ok. Trust me. I know it sounds weird but it’s actually a pretty good BBQ sauce, especially on pork and chicken.
