This is how my weekend went as well 😕. Gonna buckle down this week though. We got this!

This seems like a binge day more than a cheat day 😅

Cheat days are just meant to be indulging a little more than you have been, but not excessively over eating. Something like, if you’re over your usual 1200 cals, then a cheat day would allow for you to eat a spontaneous piece of cake that someone surprised you with, or a random food item you’ve been craving, but still staying within a decent range of calories to your usual (e.g. I usually go for no more than 500 cals over my usual limit).

I think if you’re over eating so excessively on a cheat day, if might be better to try snd slowly reduce your calories over time instead of going from a cheat day straight back to 1200 cals. By restricting so quickly, especially after a big cheat day, you’ll end up increasing the likelihood of your ‘cheat days’ ending up the way it did that day.

Also I’m genuinely not trying to shame or anything so I am sorry if it did come off that way. I’m more so trying to give some advice as someone who has dealt with restricting and then excessively over eating on cheat days.

I like how the root beer icon is real beer instead of a soda 😅

A good example of how easy calories add up tbh!!! I’d probably have a couple of days similar to this per month before I counted calories and not even realise, and that adds on nearly 2lb every day this is done, since 3500cal = 1lb

Edit: I struggle with binge eating disorder, just fyi

  5. pookie_wamala

This happens to me. I end up treating my cheat days as a binge day. What I can tell you is this is how I use to eat daily and blindly.

By plugging it all in it helps me with accountability and awareness of how and why I began to calorie count. In addition to how far I have come and push to be better next day.

  6. supershimadabro

Damn, olive oil has a lot of calories wtf.

  7. Helpmeimtired17

Yikes yeah to me this isn’t a cheat. It’s a symptom of how restrictive you are being that you went that far off course. I don’t have cheat days ever, but I do allow myself some grace. Yesterday we went to a Mediterranean restaurant, I chose salad over rice but still let myself have apiece of pita to dip in hummus. And then dinner was normal. It’s all about balance, and this is definitely not it. Hope you are ok!

i would double check the measurements before feeling bad about it. are you sure you used two tablespoons of olive oil and three tablespoons of butter? did you measure that correctly? even if you did, grams would be more exact than measurements like cups and tablespoons. also the red velvet cake entry seems pretty vague–what’s considered “half a slice” is different to everyone. it could be that the half a slice logged by one person was a much bigger “slice” than what you ate. don’t put too much stock behind what are most likely inaccurate numbers.

  9. BrainzVsBeauty

I wouldn’t be too hard on yourself when I first saw it I was like Jesus but it seems like this was a binge. There is nothing wrong with cheat days or meals but when you do try to eat at maintenance and if you go over a little no it’s okay

Eating a maintenance will keep your weight well at at the same weight unless there is a increase in sodium

When you are counting try not to restrict you self from the things you ate here in your everyday routine

  10. TheLiteralAnchor

I am stunned that a cup of chocolate chips is so calorie dense! Are you sure everything here is tracked accurately? (Of course that won’t bring it back down to 1500 or something, but the chocolate chips alone seem to be 3-400 calories too high)

  11. Key2Health

I spent a fair amount of time on maintaining before I started calorie counting again, which makes me feel confident for non counting days in the future. If you never practice eating balanced without counting, then this kind of a day is more likely. I think it’s a great idea to have days without counting, but think of them as maintenance days, not cheat days.

We do cheat MEALS twice a week (ome weekend day, one weekday) rather than cheat DAYS. Makes a world of difference, and for us, we still feel we’re being ‘rewarded,’ motivated, etc, plus we have it to look forward to. Over time, we’ve also started noticing we go way less ‘big’ on the meal because it’s part of an overall typical day. Somehow the mindset helps us not completely trash the day, if that makes sense.

  13. SuperbutNatural

don’t fret for too long! be mindful of it and just get back to the grind! you got this !!

  14. livalittlebitt

This is not a cheat day, that’s a lot of snacks and like other commenters, it seems like it was a binge.

  15. ksld_oct

cheat days should not even exist, a cheat meal is actually realistic and not insane

  16. Lazy_Education1968

My cheat days are just says I eat to maintenance calories.

  17. a cheat day is like, an extra meals worth of calories. Like if you do 1500 maybe you have a meal of 1k-1.5k calories and do light/normal the rest of the day for 2500 calories.

This is just binge eating. I mean say out loud what you inputted in to yourself: for breakfast you had a full plate of pancakes – 750 calories has to be like 5+ big pancakes, syrup and bbq sauce?, olive oil and butter, an egg, 3+ cups of milk. Then finished that massive meal and said, time for a cup of cereal. Then said, time for 1200 calories of chocolate and a large serving of chips. Then later you had a full sized 1500+ cal in-n-out meal including animal fries, a burger, and a regular root beer. I would assume the snacks are throughout the day, so in the middle of all that food you had several types of cookies, a large serving of chips, and 2 pieces of cake. That’s a binge. Talk to a registered dietician if this is something that happens more than once in a blue moon.

  18. PatientBalance

A cheat day to me it wanting a cheeseburger on Wednesday and if I still want it come the weekend I’ll have it. This is something else. I’m sure you didn’t feel good mentally or physically afterward so just remember that next time and think of it maybe as a chest meal or item, not a whole day.

  19. PurpleFaithlessness0

glad i’m not the only one i’ve had two days like this in a row 🥲🥲

  20. thehalflingcooks

Holy shit. I wouldn’t call this a cheat I would call this a binge. There’s so many sweets on here.

  21. idontcarewhocares

Whoa what app is this? Also good luck OP!!!

  22. orangebellybutton

So reading the comments and responses, it seems like you definitely overestimated how much you actually ate since you said you shared it with your bf.

    1. I would definitely try to be more accurate when entering ingredients that you’ve consumed

    2. It’s going to be okay

    3. You should try another lower calorie recipe or my go to is Kodiak Power cakes. It’s higher in protein and you can still have a treat and stay within your caloric means

    4. Be weary of falling into disordered eating

    All is well! 🙏

  23. DrkSlytherinRapunzel

I was over here lamenting about a 1700 calorie day I had after going to the Cheesecake Factory. I feel so much better now. Sorry 🤭

  24. Astrospal

That’s not a cheat day tho, it’s a binge. Hope you are doing okay, try maybe a cheat meal where you count the calories beforehand ?

  25. ParadiseLost91

It’s funny that between all those calories, what appalled me the most was, did you really need TWO types of fries with your dinner? I don’t know why that stands out to me so much! Lol

And the “animal style” ones (whatever that means) are an insane amount, I’m not sure that can even be right. I’ve never had fries that were over 400 calories; but then again I don’t know what animal style refers to lol. Is it because they have cheese on top?

  26. Squid-Mo-Crow

This is a problem. You probably shouldn’t be on this subreddit.

  27. mrs_mcpickering

I will say good job on still logging the calories because it’s easy to not do that when you know you’re eating a lot more than usual. But I would agree with the people saying this is more of a binge than a cheat day and I say that has someone who has this problem too 😔

  28. BODYBUILTBYRAVIOLI

Had a weekend with my now wife when we were dating and ate over 15,000 calories in a weekend.

She kept trying to tell me it was alright and it was her birthday and had to go through an excel spreadsheet where I showed her the calories I ate line by line with the max I could have burned then how many days it would take at a deficit to get back to what I was the morning before the weekend started

This is your first wake up call into how much you can eat in a day. If you were a couch potato for that day too the you likely put 1.5lbs of fat just from this.

Binging and justifying it as a “cheat day” will puts me into a real cycle of one step forward two steps back. Cheating has to fit into a set of calories I determine before the day starts now. I can eat cheesecake but I stop when I hit the calorie limit no matter if that’s at 5pm or 11:30’s brunch went off the rails

  29. TheMowerOfMowers

this seems like what i would eat when my BED kicks in, for me i track on cheat days and go to 2000

  30. OMG – your cheat day looks like mine!! Carb & sugar loads!

  31. IllustriousSand3759

Okay the phrasing in this post and your comments says so much. Firstly, a cheat day is not a cheat day if you’re completely capsizing your entire weeks worth of effort. Think of the larger picture: say you have 1500 cals a day for 7 days; that’s 10,500 cals a week. If you were successful in staying at or below that, then great! Allow yourself a 300-400 calorie “splurge” on cheat day. But 4000 calories in a single meal?! This is sincere bingeing covered by a facade. You have restrictive eating issues. This post clarifies that. Especially you believing your maintenance cals are 1300. Please see and nutritional specialist or a trainer to get some help.

  32. suibaiter

this is what my cheat days looked like before i fell into BED 💀

  33. I also highly recommend speaking with a medical professional… all those snacks in one day are not normal for someone just having a sweet tooth craving, even if it rarely happens. I know this isn’t the feedback you were hoping to receive. Take care <3

  34. happydandylion

Cheat meals are definitely better than cheat days.

  35. mb01453928

The chocolate chips alone is what I eat in a whole day 😭 I’m so sorry, I know how defeating it can feel to have an “off” day. It’s a lot of calories for sure, but try not to let one day throw you off course. In the long run, it won’t do much damage for one day of overeating. Doing this consistently will definitely make a change though.

I see you said you’re only 95 pounds; are you sure you need to be on a calorie deficit? Even for someone who is 5’0, 100 pounds is barely within a healthy BMI range. Maybe try to calculate what your maintenance calories should be to reach your goal weight. Developing a healthy relationship with food will help you stay on target and avoid binge days like this..speaking from experience!!
