Had a close call with the temperatures last night, but praise the Lord we are holding steady and no damage. The next 10 days look to be mild and more seasonable but nothing below freezing. I know we can get frost and freeze in April but for some reason I don’t think that we’re going to see that this year time will tell. #gardening #raisedbed #vegogarden
Good morning Community got close didn’t it sun’s coming up now that was the temperature inside outside which was 36 and then then the high tunnel it was 42 got up around 3 and it was uh I think 40° and 44 inside the big high tunnel so
I think that we we got on through it and um I want to go out there I just don’t really want to open it up yet because it always gets coldest right before the dawn you guys know that um we talk about that every year and uh that whole
Dreaded time change I I don’t like it I know a lot of people do look at that big old thing of mushroom compost that means we’ll be planting like crazy anyway I don’t like the time change I know a lot of people do but I don’t I don’t like it being light till
9:00 at night I just don’t we’re Farm MERS we get up early when uh the when the Sun is up at 9:00 at night it makes it very difficult to get up early and take care of things especially in the summertime when it’s so hot at the beginning of the
Day some of little cabbages out here on this raised bed is looking pretty good I kept these two in here I don’t think they look too hot but I kept this here so I could give it to the chickens that one may be just okay and then I have
Some cilantro that I planted by seed and then I’ve got mustard greens in here I can’t wait for this stuff to start coming in and I did throw out some cilantro seeds and it looks like those are coming up as well oh my goodness what is what is
That so we had this delivered yesterday it’s time for us to revamp um some of our containers we revamped many of them um during in the fall season but we need to go ahead and and add some of this mushroom compost to it and of course
We’ll be using this in the high tunnels and we’ll be using this some on the back acre for our planting not to mention filling up my new uh vgo garden beds we’ll be using it in that as well and we figured out what we’re going to do we’re going to fill
About a little over a third of it with wood chips and then we’ll fill it back fill the rest of it up with most of this compost and some planting mix woo we see the fog in here nice warm and toasty at least warmer than it is
Outside I’m going to close this door cuz we don’t want to let it out check on our Tomatoes yes yes we covered them up just in case and you can see Greg’s been busy planting tomatoes in here so far he probably has about 150 plants planted let’s come on back here
And check our plant starts we had a fantastic day at the the farm yesterday guys so many of you from the channel came out and bought some uh plants from us we are so thankful for you thank you so much for coming um all this way many
Of you and picking up plants from us and so you can see my herbs still have quite a few of these and then we have a bunch of herbs over there and here and here these are our tomatoes need to see if they need water this
Morning cuz we put the heating pad on them just in case taking all these precautions folks yeah everything is looking good when that sun comes up it will warm up in here quite nicely so I know our neighbors up north you guys hit freezing uh up in Denton
It’s about probably two hours from me maybe an hour and a half um I know you guys got um a freeze this morning and I know probably even a little south of there you probably got some Frost so I hope you guys covered up what you needed
To cover up um but I’ve been up since about 3: watching things to see if I was going to have to come out here and turn on Mr trusty Mr Mr Heater but thank goodness it looks like we’re going to be okay so I pulled some beats yesterday and I pickled some have
To pickle a lot more and then Greg be making our good old organic beet powder that so many of you love let’s go check the little high tunnel let’s check there degrees in here in the little high tunnel 40° so yes my tomato starts in
Here should be just fine 40° no signs of a frost in here of course because it’s covered but yeah I think that we are looking pretty good this morning morning we did go ahead and cover up our seed starts in here to make sure that they’d be okay
Just in case everything looks like it’s okay got to get to up poting guys so yesterday it was looking like tonight was going to be real similar um to this morning and last night but not anymore they say that we’re going to be around 43 so we should be just fine
Tomorrow not seeing again where we’re going to get even close to the 30s in the next 10 days we are seeing the threat of severe weather maybe on Thursday and then next weekend looks to be a little cool and Mild I’m not minding the cool weather guys I’m not
Minding so the 40s are just fine uh for us at night you know I can’t sleep well when it’s hot outside I’m not ready I’m not ready for the summer um so I’m going to enjoy these cool temperatures while I can but uh yeah it looks like we’re okay
And I think that many of you who bought our plants that are South of I20 looks like you’re probably okay too Greg has my green bean bed tilled up we’ll probably add we’ll probably till it one more time and add some more of that compost but the soil looks really
Really well because of what we do when we plant and micro razol fungi is one of those big things now I did go ahead and plant some green beans in here last weekend uh we’ll see if they’re going to germinate and start coming up if they
Are I should start seeing them in the next seven days um I planted them kind of deep because um I was worried that we were going to get cold it’s time to get busy today um we got a lot to do um a lot of ground to
Cover got a lot of lot of little uh seed starts to get up potted my goodness we’re going to have a busy couple of weeks and uh yeah spring is springing here in Texas you can see our yard is already green um normally we don’t get green
Like this until um at least mid to late March but yeah you can see that uh everything is Greening up much quicker here this year in Texas we did not have um much of a winter at all much of a winter at all so trees are buding out grass is
Growing um hopefully we’re all going to get an early start on our garden this year uh before the heat hits and uh so yeah you guys get busy uh we’ll have another plant cell in a couple of weeks so if any of you are local and are
Interested be sure and come on out and see us um we do have a Facebook page it’s called alvaredo Community Farm you can check that out we also have a website Alvar Community farm.com um check that out as well if you’re looking for seeds we have them and uh yeah so
Thank you guys love you all we’ll be in touch um it’s going to be a beautiful day today 70° in Texas and I don’t think we’re going to have the win like we did yesterday stay safe God bless you all love you all

Hoping my carrots make it. 😢 I'm in denton
I'm with you I do not like the time change and I do not see the need for it
Thanks for telling the temps
Where did you source the mushroom compost from? It’s beautiful!
Yes it was! So glad the tunnels were warmer inside! You’ve got some precious seedlings growing. Time change is so hard… Darran and I usually stay up way to late working on projects🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️ Hopefully Darran and I can come see you guys your next sale. My parents live in Ft. Worth and could swing by on the way to see them!
I agree with you about the time change. If God wanted us to lose an hour, he would have done it Himself.
I wish I lived closer. I'd like to buy your tomatoe plants.
I just recently moved to canton texas.
Hi from Tyler, we were 38.
Noone likes time change thanks for nothing LBJ and dubious congress of the 60's
I HATE time change!! Florida hit record highs, yesterday- 90. We had a heavy, fast downpour in the early morning hours, and then.. POOF, 60 this morning. Shorrrr…sweats.. weather🤣
I agree about the time change. I hate it. I go to bed about 7:30 – 8pm each night so I can wound down and be asleep by 10. I’m up by 3:30 – 4. Am everyday. If the sun is out, I’m wide awake.
♥️💕♥️ 👋🏻😄🥰
I am canning raspberry jam and it’s snowing. I am in central Ohio. It’s rude. lol It was 70 degrees last week. I am going to start my luffas today, my first seeds of 2024. Take care, God bless❤❤❤ you
It shouldn't matter. It's just a number. The plants and animals farm have NO CLUE what time it is. The DAYLIGHT is longer so the idea that it's light when we go to bed… 🤦♀️
I had some frost on my windshield at 7 this morning.. Any time the forecast says it will get below 40, I know I will get frost. The last 2 years I have had frost in April 😡 So glad all your plants survived!
Good morning! Everything looks healty!
Not looking forward to the mosquitos LOL
Texas Farming: When the Grass turns green, The Garden seed will grow to a lean plant, When the sun starts to burn the Grass the Garden seed will be full and close to harvest.
When living in Weatherford I can remember a pretty heavy snowfall in April. Hope all your crops survived!
Ponder had a slight freeze but nothing damaged. Warmer weather is coming soon.
I had a frost on my yard this morning. I don't have any warm weather plants out yet so I'm not too worried about the light freeze yet. Glad yours are okay.
Praise Hayah, all you nations! Extol Him, all you peoples (Psalm 117:1) ! // SHLM & HaB (peace & love). The Name of the Creator is Hayah asher Hayah, as what He told Moshah (Exodus 3:14), preserved in the Hebrew Scriptures. There is a curse to the G-o-d name (Isaiah 65:11-12), preserved in the Hebrew Scriptures. All followers of the Messiah are to do the 7 appointed times (Leviticus 23), but no more animal sacrifices, following the Crucifixion of the Messiah. We are now of the order of MLK TSDQ (King, righteous), to Whom ABRaHM tithed. Ask the Messiah to be your personal Savior. He said to him, I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me (John 14:6). …for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of Hayah (Romans 3:23). The wages for sin is death but the gift of ALaHYM is Everlasting Life through Messiah Yahushgh our Master (Romans 6:23). That if you confess with your mouth the Master Yahushgh and believe in your heart that ALaHYM raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved (Romans 10:9). He Himself is an Atoning Offering for our sins, and not for ours only but also for all the world (1 John 2:2).
Don't care for the time change either.Im being selfish, but with those longer hours. I have a neighbor who doesn't respect others who go to bed at a decent time.Im retired, but when I go to my room to relax. And getting up in the morning to see trash either on the street or in my yard from her pesty relatives. Ugh!
Next plant sale- will those be the same plants or any new ones?
What do you mean…will this be the end? It shows you made it.
I’m so happy my husband just finished our greenhouse.
I placed an oil radiant heater in it…kept it a toasty 60 degrees.
It was 32 this morning here in South Lewisville. I held planting the tomatoes until today. March 10 is Tomato Planing Day this year! Thank you for all you do!
Getting ready to do whatever I can pray pray pray pray🙀🙏🙏🙏
I agree with you on the time change. Waste o time and effort. I'm not a morning person. Fortunately I'm retired so don't have to head to work. I'm for learning time a God's time.
I just wish they would leave the time one way or the other!!!!
Waving from East Texas! Low was 41. High today is to be 65. LOL… back to 80 in a couple of days
Everything looks great. I bet he sure misses your help during the week. Gardening is a huge job so kudos to Greg for all his hard work. You are hard working Patriots!
6:40 PM and still light now. I don’t like the time change nonsense, makes me wonky. Everything looks great!!! ❤
this is frances marks wife. i hate the time change too
thank-you for sharing
Here in central Maryland, we've had some 60's and a few 70's, with 40* nights. Weeks early for us, with a 4/16 last frost date. Oh that Spring fever is sooo tempting! I got a look at our extended forecast and sure enough, 30* nights next week. Usually we have weeks of cold, rainy days at this time. I'm glad I've used this time for Spring yard and garden prep…only. Love watching your progress! Enjoy your "hands in the dirt" time.
Jill, I agree I don't like the change either. I already don't get enough sleep as it is!! They just need to pass the resolution where it stays the same all the time!!!! The only nice thing about the change is I'm not driving home in the dark from work. Everything looks amazing, Jill.
Your plants look great! I planted some of the cherry tomato seeds we bought from you and they all sprouted. Growing a few to give to a neighbor too. When will you start your purple hull peas?
Prayers for a good year this year!
🙏🏼❤️
My low this morning was 37 and warmed to 65. I left some summer squash and cucumber seedlings out that I was hardening off and they did just fine. Will leave a frost cloth out to cover them, as I see in my 10 day forecast, 35 on the 19th. Went ahead and planted the cucumbers and a few of the squash today. Taking a chance and hopefully get a harvest before the bugs get them. The cooler temps are helping the broccoli and cabbage along.
