What’s the best way to get fish (tilapia above) to not stick to a fish basket? Tried spraying Pam on this batch and it worked a little better but still stuck a bit.

Brush the fish with Mayonnaise. It’s neutral and doesn’t burn or affect the flavour in any way.

I think i woulda used avocado oil on the fish

For the basket, I would treat it like I do the grill grate when I grill fish on it – heat it up, scrape it clean, then use tongs and a piece of paper toweling dipped in vegetable oil to generously oil the basket.
For the fish, make sure it is dry – pat it dry with paper towels, then brush on a generous amount of olive oil on both sides before putting it in the basket. Hope this helps!

I use a Misto oil spray on stuff that sticks before throwing on the grill. Amazon has them.

There’s only one answer and it’s clarified butter. Best flavour over coals, least processed and you can make it yourself.

I’m sorry, off topic, but I said to my wife ‘lube up a fish basket’ and she cackled like an idiot for about 30 seconds. I wish I had help for you but I felt this might make you chuckle.

Trick with fish is the right heat and being patient. Fish will pull off on its own when it’s ready. Same with stuff like chicken and burgers. If it’s sticking when you pull it off the grill, it’s not ready yet. Oil etc won’t matter. If you’ve ever grilled tuna or mahi etc it’s the same. I’ve never used a basket. I just put them straight on, unoiled, above some hot hot white coals.
With your grill, you should have 1 side loaded with coal and the other empty. Have a hot and cold side. That way you can spin it and keep it cooking without it burning if needed. I usually just load mine up like yours too, but that’s how it’s “supposed” to be done on those type of grills.
