If you’re anything like me- you love going out to get boba and can often times find yourself spending quite a bit of money on these drinks. One of my favorite go to’s is an iced lychee green tea. It’s light, refreshing, and in my opinion, one of the best afternoon pick me ups. Motivated by the desire to not spend $6 every time I wanted to have this drink… I did some research and found that it can be made at home for a fraction of the price and in large quantities. All you really need is 3 ingredients: canned lychee, loose leaf green tea, and ice/water. Recipe below for those that are interested:

    Lychee Green Tea Ingredients:

    – Canned Lychee (You can also use fresh lychees + water + sugar in a 1:1:1 ratio)

    – Green Tea Leaves

    – Ice/Water

    Directions:

    1. Blend the canned (or fresh) lychees until smooth to make a puree.

    2. Add loose tea leaves into a pot and steep for approximately 10 minutes before straining. The tea to water ratio is approximately 1:10. I like to steep at a 1:5 ratio and add in the remaining 5 of the water in the form of ice to chill the tea concentrate faster.

    3. Mix together 1 part lychee puree, 1 part green tea concentrate, and 1 part water over ice and serve.
