Apples are a type of fruit that grow on trees. There are lots of different kinds of apples. Granny Smith apples are green. There are lots of red apples like Pink Lady and Red Delicious. Once the fruit is ripe and ready to eat, the apples are picked by hand and placed into bags.

Then the apples are sorted and placed into bins. Those bins are then sent to grocery stores, farmer’s markets, and fruit stands where people can buy them for a healthy any time snack or delicious sometimes food like apple pie. I hope this helps. Good luck! – [Cookie Monster] Thank you, Mr. Farmer!

Farmers plant tiny kernels of corn. Those are the seeds. They grow all summer. By fall, those tiny kernels have grown into tall stocks. Along each stock, they are ears of corn. The corn can be harvested by a big machine called the grain combine.

You can see the corn because it grows inside a husk, but when you peel it back, you can see that inside is the yellow corn on the cob. Once the corn is harvested, then it’s shipped to the grocery stores and farmers markets. You can eat corn as a side dish, in salsa,

Or even right up off the cob. You need special shoes called waiters to farm cranberries. Cranberries are a healthy fruit that grow on vines low to the ground. For most of the year cranberries grow and ripen on dry land. When the cranberries are ready to be picked the field is flooded with water. Then a machine called a harvester

Knocks the berries off the vine. Once the berries are knocked off, they float to the top then we wade into the water and push them towards a special tube that sucks them in and drops them into a truck. Here you go. – [Cookie Monster] We need mustard to make a turkey sandwich. Can you help us please? – Hi, Cookie Monster and Gonger. Welcome to the Mustard Factory where mustard is made. Of course I can help you, but mustard doesn’t start here. The mustard you eat in a sandwich is grown in a field.

Mustard seeds come from a plant that has yellow flowers. After time, the flowers turn brown, then turn into pods. A machine called a combine takes the seeds from the pods and a tractor brings them to a factory like this one. That’s when we start making mustard. First, the mustard seeds are ground.

Then the seeds go up a big pipe into a tank filled with water and vinegar. Next, we add turmeric and paprika. After that the tank spins really fast to mix the ingredients. Then the mixture goes through mills, which grinds it all together and turns it into thick yellow paste, called mustard.

Then, we put it into bottles like you see at the store. You can eat mustard on all kinds of food, like burgers, pretzels, and turkey sandwiches. Here’s some mustard to make a turkey sandwich, Cookie and Gonger. – [Gonger] Thanks, Miss Factory Lady. – [Both] Mustard, mustard. We’re going home with mustard. Yeah.

Can you help us please? – Hello, Cookie Monster. Hi, Gonger. You’ve come to the right place. Welcome to the pea farm! Peas are a healthy green vegetable. They grow on vines, and each pod has peas growing inside it. When it’s time, the farmers pick the pea pods one by one by hand.

They collect them in a small basket before piling the fresh and delicious peas in a truck to take to the market. You can cook fresh peas or eat them straight out of the pod. There are some fresh peas for you to make your pea soup, Cookie Monster and Gonger.

– [Cookie Monster] Thank you, Ms. Farmer. – [Gonger And Cookie Monster] Peas, peas. We’re going home with peas. – Okay, Chef Gonger. We got peas. Now me wonder how we make pea soup? – Well, what if we check the recipe? – Let’s try. – [Gonger] Okey dokey.
