Got back to the U.S for leave, since when does watermelon cost $28?
Was buying some groceries for my grandma. I'm not used to buying my own food since I eat at a cafeteria, but I don't remember groceries being that expensive when I used to live with my parents. When did these prices started?

I can honestly say, growing up in south Ga, I’ve never paid for a watermelon. I’ve always know farmers that give the seconds away for free.

They are $4 when they are in season.

I don’t usually buy them by the pound, but a large one is like $10. It’s also off-season so maybe that’s why?

Umm…you paid by the lbs. Next time purchase one at price per watermelon. They’re out there. That was definitely a catch and release.

Did you buy cut watermelon? Buying a whole watermelon is much more cost effective

Wow and I thought the 12.99 here in FL was bad

This is like the opposite end of their season. And you bought a seedless. PSA buy fruit that is in season…

Since the last time someone tried to buy one in March.

I would just return the watermelon tbh

I once had a lady’s belly on the scale when she weighed my bananas. They were expensive! She reweighed them for the right price, but I have seen it happen

Oh crazy, I grew up in Joliet and my parents still live over there!
I’d say it’s that expensive because it’s not season for it? I think, that would be my only thought. Also I think el güero is kinda pricey in general

Out of season. That’s a summer fruit.

Where in the hell did you find a 14.82 lb watermelon?! That’s the size of a 3 month old baby!
