Went to Bambino last night with my girl, I’m a huge pizza guy, my go to spots are Pedrosos and Sammataro, so I had to check this out when I saw it opened up last week.
Aesthetically it’s nice, but it feels a little underdressed as well. It’s right next to a pickleball complex and Austin Bouldering Project so maybe they want to attract the post workout fitness crew by being more casual, but the food and prices feel more upscale than a casual pizza spot
Mozzarella Sticks – These were fantastic, kind of thick hard outer layer but very soft cheese inside. Unique and I loved them, the cacio e pepe sauce with them rocks – 9/10
Mi Scusi Pizza – Wasn’t really a fan of this pizza, very average, the sesame crust wasn’t it, overall it almost felt like a good frozen pizza – 5/10
The Tracksuit (basically pepperoni) – This was way better than expected after trying the Mi Scusi. Fantastic flavor , the mozzarella really tops this one off. The only thing I will say is their dough just isn’t that great, nor is the way they cook it, but maybe they’ll perfect that in time. This was still an 8/10 pizza though
The last thing to mention here is the mandatory 20% tip (last photo), which in my eyes is fine, they mentioned it to me when I started a tab, and it’s printed in the menu. What rubbed me the wrong way was when I went to pay the bill and it was automatically set to tip another 20% and you have to go custom > $0 to not end up leaving a 40% tip. This is shit in my opinion, and enough to make me not want to go back
