I like to cook outside. In fact I prefer it. I'd like to cook breakfast, lunch and dinner outside lol.
The pictured grill is what I currently have. It gets hot. It hard to be accurate with the heat. Even the burner on the lowest setting has a very high flame and turns pans black. I feel like it's a fussy grill and there has to be something better, more accurate, easier to clean, with more capabilities.
We like charcoal occasionally but the gas is most convenient.

I’m sure people will mention pellet grills, which I would echo.
Specifically, the Recteq B380X is a pellet grill that can do low and slow, but also push up to 1000° for fast sears.
I’ve had one for a year and love it. It’s the perfect balance if you don’t want multiple grills and want the finesse that comes with electronic temp control.
Get two, weber spirit or genesis and a 22″ kettle
Depending on your budget, you can spend from about $650 to maybe $1500
Crown verity , will last a lifetime , great grill
For flavor, charcoal/chunk using an offset, kettle or egg.
For super easy use is propane.
For easy control with added flavor it’s pellet or gravity.
For added flexibility it’s a griddle.
And finally for nothing but low slow is a cabinet chip or pellet.
Just my thoughts but each has their own merits. I have 2 pellet grills (my first one then my big boy) and a griddle. With the big boy having the open sear area it’s very flexible. With everything together I can do anything from 2 different temp smoke sessions (main and side) and even make fried rice or stir fry on the griddle.
One flexible option is the masterbuilt 850 gravity. Chunk for flavor and has a griddle insert included. But it’s more work than pellets and still less than offset.
Think about your preferred style. What’s your critical cooking need? Do a lot of research and you’ll figure it out. But whatever you do… enjoy it. No good if it’s no fun!
Just got a Weber spirit 3 burner and it’s awesome .. also have a charcoal kettle as well .. I like the ease of gas for dogs and burgers . The charcoal kettle is usually reserved for thicker cuts .
Check out OfferUp or similar to find a used Weber. People are selling them all of the time and you can usually get a good deal. I just got one that was like-new for $400, normally a $1500 grill.
I had a very similar char-broil with the same issues, the Weber is just so much better.
Your not shopping for a house it’s a grill
Get a weber 22″ and a blackstone flat top
– For smash burgers, food prep, ect. a flattop is great
– For when you need really high heat… weber 22″
– For when you want to BBQ… weber 22″ (maybe with a Cajun bandit or similar stacker insert)
I love my Charbroil, but that is my biggest issue with it, its high temperature. You almost have to cook on indirect heat much of the time.
Get a charcoal grill with an offset smoker, and get a black stone/ flattop for breakfast, smash burgers, and the such. Don’t be hank hill.
Weber, Napoleon, or Broil King
For Napoleon make sure it’s the made in Canada and not China models.
