Just visited a Sicilian bakery near me and they had these savory buns which they’re calling calzones. I am familiar with a much different type of calzone from pizza joints but these weren’t greasy and were round shaped.
Is it typical to have style variations of calzones in Italy? Or does anyone have a different term for these?
This one was filled with smoked salmon and cream cheese. It was really delicious. They also had sausage, and mozzarella/ tomato flavor.
