I saw someone mention this on this subreddit or one of the other spicy food related ones, and they said it was the best sambal they’d tried so I decided to order some.

Compared to the common Huy Fong Sambal Oelek this is much spicier and has a very different taste. It’s much richer, more similar to the Lao Gan Ma chili crisp in flavor profile with a deep umami flavor, but with a strong heat bite at the front and then a slow background heat that builds and builds.

In terms of heat I’d rank it just below Tabasco Scorpion. It packs a punch, but it’s not unmanageable.

I have no clue what’s actually in it though, the label is shiny gold that’s impossible to read small text on, and it’s in Indonesian (I think) anyway.

Still, I’m glad I saw this recommended, and I’d highly recommend for others to try as well.
