Hey guys I don’t know much about grills but from what I can understand it’s worth it to invest in a Weber and have heard that getting a used one is a good option to save some money because they last a long time. This guy is selling this 10 year old Weber genesis for $400 there’s a video of the burners on and he says it’s been well taken care of and based off the pictures that looks to be true. Is this a decent deal?

Christ, this is making me feel bad. My one year old grill is dirtier than that.
Its in awesome shape, and personally I think that gen is the best made of all of them – the new models feel flimsy and crap in comparison.
I assume you are in the states, and you are talking USD. $400 seems a little high, but once again, its in great shape. 300$ would make me happier.
I’d bargain down if possible, but still think this is a better deal than buying new.
I bought one in similar condition a few weeks ago for $360, no regerts! Super solid grill.
it is a great grill in great shape, but $400 is high when the newer version is often in similar range, and there is an even newer version out now. Cooking performance is the same across all, but technically 2 generations and a decade old, $400 is high. $300 would be solid, less would be a steal
I have this exact grill with the mocha coloring and let me tell you this thing is a **tank**. $400 might be high, but it will last as long as you want to keep it. Mine has moved 4 times, been kept a friends house for a 3 year stint, and has been outside uncovered the entire 12 years I’ve owned it.
$300
Own Spirit (which is a lower model than this) for over 10 years. Weber grills are terrific.
Not sure if listing shows but in that duration you would probably need to replace flavourizer bars. Check the price for new ones. The other thing that can go is the ignition starter but other than that everything has been fine.
I’d buy one for like 200
It’s a great grill, but $400 is a bit high. I just saw a brand new Weber Spirit 3 burner on sale for less than $600 lately. Sure, Genesis is a step up, but you could at least use that info to negotiate. I probably wouldn’t go higher than $300
This is a rare find. Buy it and enjoy for the next decade.
Seems high. I see these on Marketplace from $150-$300 frequently in the Nor Cal area. Picked up the one for $150. After adding new knobs it looked near new.
Nope
I got a 4 year old broil king same layout all stainless everything with very low use will need a polish
I’d let go for 400 canuckistani
Found this exact model on the side of the road in a richer area. It looked like it had never been cleaned but a lot of over cleaner did the trick and I t works great. I put my spirit grill on the curb and the next morning it was gone. The circle of life continues.
I would pay maximum 300 for this. It’s in good shape but it’s still 10 years old.
I got a lightly used one off craigslist for $250 about three years ago, mostly stainless and aluminum I expect it to last a good long while. I forget what the asking price was but I showed up same day with cash and offered to haul it away immediately. Prompt cash payment and removal is always a good bargaining chip. I did get a little lucky because they misspelled Weber in the posting and didn’t include the word genesis so I suspect they didn’t get many bites.
This is in great shape, and the upgraded stainless grates and flavorizor bars! I see them all the time for this price. I have even see 20 year old ones for this price. See if they are willing to bargain. If not that honestly isn’t a bad deal, it is super clean. I bought a few and fixed them up over the last year. Not in this shape and sold them all in a few hours got $200-$300 each. I currently have 2 of this model. One with the grill and one with the griddle insert. They are way better than the newer ones. But if you don’t get this one you can find some for cheap if you are willing to search. You will just have to rebuild em.
I received the same grill for free (exceot it has 4 burners), and the lid is black.
FREE.
I would not pay $400 for this. I would knock him down to $200, after verifying there is NO rust, or let him keep it.
This one appears to have all the stainless steel upgrades too! Nice find. I’d jump on it for that price
They must have never cooked on it? Looks in great condition but like others have said, see if you can get a bit off.
Mine looks like it’s been through three wars compared to that.
Definitely try and talk him down a bit but that’s a quality grill. If you get it and end up need replacement casters at some point let us know.
Consider you will not have to buy another grill in your lifetime. They are not made solid like that.
It would be a buy for me.
